Day 17 wooohooo!!!

So pleased I've made it this far, had a really tough couple of days being weepy and rather depressed, and have bought vitamin supplements for all of those that smoking depletes... Such as vitamin c, also a bit of a herbal 'pick me up' as recommended by my fabulous local health store.

I've decided to only use two thirds of my patch as well, which has helped as I was feeling sick and a bit dizzy, and that seems to have done the trick, maybe too much nicotine in the patches I was using.

Well done to all of you.. Even though the slog is sometimes hard, it'll be worth it in the end.

My skin looks fabulous, breathing when out walking is nowhere near as laboured and difficult.

Thank-you all of you for listening and support... It makes it easier and helps so much.

Sparkles and Light at the end of the tunnel!!! :)

Wow! That's amazing! Over half way to a whole month, and a long way into a life without smoke! Well done you.

I sympathise about the emotional thing, I've had some odd moments, and some tense ones too! I guess that's all to be expected. How long are you going to use the patches for?

Thanks Everyone,

I feel quite proud!

I'm not sure how long i'm going to use the patches for, but i think i will stay on the two thirds for another week or so and see how i feel and then hopefully drop down to a third.... if i experience too many urges then i'll go back up again.

Hopefully will have weaned myself off the patches in the next 4 weeks completely... dont really want to drop off too quickly and then regret it  but also am debating the not being addicted to cigarettes yet still having the nicotine fix in the patch... So long as there is no more smelly sticks though, i'm happy!

Has anyone else done this? Any advice would be welcomed.

xxxx

Sorry, no experience of patches. I used gum this time, but only for 2 days as I was paranoid about nicotine! I found the quit easier when I stopped the gum (wierd eh?) because I wasn't thinking about when to have my next gum, just concentrating on my quit. I think patches are a bit different though as they slow release. I'm sure there are plenty of folk here who have used them who could help.

Sorry, that was a cruddy reply!! :o No help at all!!

No Thats fab hun,

I've been a little preoccupied with the thought that i have gone from being addicted to cigarettes to being addicted to the patch, although i know that with nothing i couldn't have done it. (I have tried)

I'd quite like to hear patch people stories on coming off them sooner than recommended.... surely 10/12 weeks is quite a long time period to be patched up? For now the reduced one is fab however. One step at a time and all of that. ;o)

Day 17 you are doing great. Is it not great how you can ask a question and get a answer. I saw the line about how after the quit you are not winded when going for a walk. The return of my breathing is what I cherish the most. I had started wheezing at night and that has stopped.

Do you enjoy counting the quit in days now? You will soon be counting in weeks. Keep on doing what you are doing. Congratulations.

Thanks for your comment, its lovely to have everyone all together and supportive in our mission!!!

I used to walk my dog up a pretty steep hill in some woods nearby, i did this at the weekend and all the way up thought... surely i'll get breathless soon, and didn't practically sailed up there... such a difference its amazing. Stairs too.. when i crave (which is less and less) i go for a walk up some stairs (i work in a college so they are plentiful) and congratulate myself on the lack of wheezing/ coughing. Its beautiful!!!!!

Good Luck on your quit... and well done! We have turned into winners! :D
