I've not had to face a smokey bar yet, But i'm shortly going to Brussels on business and some of the bars over there still allow smoking and I'll also be going to Germany before the year is out on business again, so I feel your apprehension.

I'm sure you will be fine just keep it in the front of your mind that you don't want to smoke and you don't want to go through the first few days of quitting again and I'm sure you will be OK.

Look on the smokers with pity rather than envy and you'll be fine.

emm yes, well so far what i have done is pretty much avoided all people that are smoking, i think will be harder to do, Find myself sometimes staring at smokers lol...a bit freaky

You can do it, don't see it as a problem to face, see it as a positive action on your part, don't go looking for trouble. The stink that must be in those bars might be enough to put you off too.

You asked about cold symptoms, yes all of that can be side effects. If you read some of the websites in our signatures you will find lots of answers to your questions about nicotine addiction or use the search facility at the top of the page. Off course you can come on here and just ask, someone will help you out.

Stay positive look forward to your break and enjoy your stay, you can do it.

Hi Andy :D

Great you're in double figures well done

The cold symptoms are commoan among us non smokers at least early in a quit

Look on going to Berlin as a temptation to be got through and it will be a huge trigger out of the way

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quitting whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Aaaargh I forgot about that - I'm off to Munich next week!

(Germany must be the place to be at the moment!)

We'll just have to stay strong - it was a smoky pub that was my downfall in my last quit (before the smoking ban in this country) - but I should be OK this time as I've quit for twice as long already. I've been in outdoor smoking areas this time too and been ok!
