Around the time I stopped smoking and started the patches I have been feeling insanely tired. I am already on medication which makes me feel tired, I sleep roughly eleven hours per night. Usually during the day I feel quite alert, maybe having a nap in the afternoon.
But recently I seem to feel tired all of the time, sometimes going back to bed within hours of waking up. I was walking around sainsburys this morning like a zombie. I'm just wondering if anyone else is feeling the same way?

I've had quite the time of tiredness while quitting this time around. Its been more this last month or two. Makes me wonder if its a season thing rather than a quit thing sometimes.
Not fun however when you wake up after a really good sleep and then go an hour then BAM! wall of tiredness again.
Yes this is something I've noticed in my quit. At first I was bursting with energy (around weeks 3-4) - but as its gone on I'm definitely sleeping more (weeks 8 til now).
It seems to affect me in getting out of bed in the morning - in that I can't! But once up I do feel awake and alert all day.
This will, I'm sure, pass as a lot of the other symptoms have.
I'm full of energy during the day but have been going to bed at 8pm and sleeping through till 5 - I have to get up at 5.45 to go to work. Feeling much better though.
I have read it is to do with blood sugar levels, as your body is producing blood sugar naturally now , rather than by nicotine etc, so it takes longer for your body to absorb your food and give you the energy-whereas the energy is synthetically released straight away by a cigarette, but also the cigarette also releases bad fats into the body. I have read to drink plenty of fruit juice to help eg cranberry!

Hi dark crystal, good luck on your quit, I noticed you mentioned in your previous posts about still being on patches, be careful with juices with high levels of Vit c such as cranberry and orange as these are metabolised faster by the body when you still have nicotine in it. Why quit is an excellent source of info, if you haven't visited yet it's worth a try.
