Hi Deedeebel :D

3 days is great just hang in there

Sorry your plans for a night out have fallen through keeping busy will help think about what to do and plan it out

A mixture of work type things, housework that sort of thing and things you enjoy doing will be a big help

Failing all else come on here I used to do that a lot just to read, see how others were doing and to wadte some tome as well

Love

Thanks. I've got some good books, internet and tv, so hopefully I'll get through the weekend. Reading other people's experiences is a big help, stops me feeling so alone.

Hiya Deedeebel

I'm feeling down too...must be Day 3. Our bodies are working hard to get us to replace that nicotine. Don't give in, tomorrow will be better (I hope!). Just thought I'd say hi, and tell you that you're not on your own. We can do this together. Lisa X :)

Hey lovely people! Well, today was HARD, seriously. Worst so far, but I think it's the whole weekend thing. No work, plans fallen through, just me, my kids (god, so stressful) and very little distraction. But, am now ensconsed in bed, made it through, still not smoking! Yey! Not been a great day in some respects, but the fact that I'm still sticking with my quit is fab.

Maybe I'm (actually, WE) are stonger than I thought? Jeez, it's hard though- my husband is downstairs, puffing away, and I know it would be a matter of seconds to get my hands on a fag- but I haven't so far, so that's gotta be good eh. Deep breath- and I can actually take a deep breath now without wheezing- and try to stay positive... Tomorrow I'll hit day 4! This is SO difficult though. OK, moan over! Thanks to all of you for support and help, you have no idea how much strength you've given me XXXX

Hey, hey, hey,

Good news getting to end of day 3. What a star. Not sure of your quit method so wont talk about nico being out of your system. Although there are some things that you should be thinking about now...and I'm sure you've already read the advice. It's now coming down to reversing the years of brain washing...dealing with the psychology of smoking and how we presumed that it was a good thing....as if

Think about asking your hubby to smoke outside for these initial couple of weeks. Small ask if he's got your best interests at heart.

No worries though....you are doing great :D

I haven't told the old fella I've quit for good- he has seen me do this 3 times now so is slightly scornful, understndable as he has no intention of stopping! So, when he offers me a fag (which he keeps doing!) I've said I have a chest infection and am waiting for it to clear. That probably sounds mental, but it takes the pressure off me, because no one's watching, waiting for me to fail! Oh what a tangled web...

As to my quit method, I bought gum on Thursday (my quit was spur of the moment!) and have used about 12 bits in 3 days. So, I am clearly not replacing the nicotine like for like so I think it's a psychological help rather than a nicotine replacement? I have loads left, but I think I'll swap for just plain minty chewing gum on Monday, as I am now having such low doses od actual nicotine it's probably just a distraction.

What I have done is write about this quit to myself in a diary- for the first time ever I've been honest with myself about what smoking means to me, and it's been both embarrassing and revelatory. I'm hoping that facing up to the truth of why I've smoked all these years, and why previous quits haven't lasted, will help make this quit the quit to end all quits!

Thanks for the kind words, and support XX

It's probably a good thing and your are obviously aware there are sufficient pressure getting into the quit without inviting other things. Although life will continue to happen around you. So, make sure to set the boundaries at some point ;)

Good one....although keep some of the gum handy just in case as a safety net.

No worries...it's what we do for each other :)

Great idea about the diary which will be a great reinforcement as time goes past and readily chart the positive changes you are experiencing.

Sounds like you really mean it Deedee and good for you. My OH is still smoking too but we have rarely smoked in the house anyway (used to 'treat' ourselves occasionally in the evening.how MAD is that..a 'treat' !. I have had to ask that the 'back door' ciggie goes outside though, with door closed, as even the smell of that smoke is pretty unpleasant.

She will join me I am sure, but I am putting no pressure on. Got to be her choice just like it is mine.

Keep going, it will get easier.

Stick at it Dee

Hi Dee , good luck on your 4th attempt .

The fact that you have had 3 previous attempts suggests that you REALLY want to stop and with this in mind you have already overcome half of the battle.

The first 2 days were bad for me and from day 3 it became noticeably easier so I suspect you are well placed to succeed now as long as you dont drop your guard and accept just one from the other half .

Good luck.
