But what does shacky mean please not heard that before
i hate beind dislexic in times like this.
im guessing i spelt it wrong...hmmm...errm, shackey, thats any better?
Shaky? As in, wobbly? I got that when I tried going cold turkey at first, don't worry too much, it's a common symptom of withdrawal.
Hi Geoff
Thanks I just didn't quite understand what you meant that's all
Don't worry about misspelling things I'm forever doing that
I agree with Madcatwoman being a little shaky is normal early in a quit but it will pass Promise

Hi I'm new to this forum and quit smoking 11 days ago. I have tried to quit in the past but the majority of my friends smoke so found it extremely hard to stay off them and always eventually gave in. 2 weeks is the longest I think i've gone without a cigarette in the past so I'm really hoping that I'll give them up for good this time cause don't want to go through the last few days again! Today is a good day so far for me....its the evenings i find the hardest...but hopefully I'll be ok. I've been looking up this forum over the past 2 weeks and it has been really helpful to me so thank you!

Hi Blondie and welcome. So you have already done over a week and on your way to 2 weeks well done. It sounds to my like you are doing this cold turkey which means that all the nicotine is out of your system now.
Stay strong, read the links and keep posting.
Thanks so much Marg and Bev, so glad I joined this forum and made my first post now, can feel the support already! It makes such a difference when you know other people are going through the same thing. I see you're coming up to your 1 year anniversary Marg off the fags, WELL DONE! I can't even possibly imagine I will ever reach that point, but gonna give it my best shot, do you ever stop thinking of cigarettes constantly??
Hi Blondie
Thank you yes almost a year for me now
But remember I was once where you are now and I couldn't imagine being quit all that time either it almost seemed like forever but that year has gone so fast that it really doesn't seem that long to me
There are others on here that have been quit a lot longer than that as well
To Answer your question
YES you will stop thinking about them constantly Promise it's normal at this stage to have them always in your mind after all they've been a part of your life usually for a long time but it gets easier and so much better the further you go
One day you'll realise hey I haven't thought about them for x number of hours and than after a while longer it will be days and weeks that you don't think about it Promise
The only time I think about them now is when I do something for the first time since I quit and then it's just a fleeting thought of oh a fag about now but gone before you really know it's there and in no way a crave
I honestly can't remember the last time I had a crave it was however a long time ago [in quitting terms]
You've already taken the first steps along the road and you say you're giving it your best shot and that's all any of us can do after all
Love
