First post - day 31!

Hi all,

Well I've been lurking these forums since I quit (cold turkey) on 8 October, so I'm now on a calendar month in! It has been hard, but definately worth it - the benfits far outway the odd craving here or there, and I'm (very) proud of myself to say the least.

I've smoked for about 20 years and have been thinking about quitting for the last 18 months, but picking an exact date was hard, so after getting bronchitis last month I thought that's it, the time has come!

I'm particularly looking forward to national non smoking day next year as that will mark 6 months for me.

Pablo x

Thanks for the replies - yes, it's the non smoking day next year that I keep telling myself to aim for - 10 March will make it over 6 months! Hopefully after that it should be plain sailing.

I've found the hardest thing going out drinking on weekends - how people used to give up before the smoking ban I'll never know, now it's a bit of a god send.

Hardest thing is the other half is still smoking, so still get whiffs of smoke every hour or so from the spare room!!

Hi Welcome :)

If ever there was a reason (and there's lots) for giving up it's having something pretty serious like bronchitis. Well done and congrats for one month quit.

Hmmmm, if national non smoking day is 11th Mar then I make that 5 months not 6, from October. Still, really great as an aim though
