Hi, Just found your group. I havent had a cig since last Saturday evening. I didnt intend stopping then, but started with a horrendous cold/flu and I have never enjoyed smoking whilst ill. Anyway, the cold spread to my chest (as it always does when I am smoking) so I am now on antibiotics, off work and struggling with my breathing. I REALLY want to stay stopped this time - I need to stop because I dont think my health can cope with more chest infections.
I am worried about going back to work, because most of my work friends are smokers. I know I will feel isolated as I wont be outside in 'smokers corner' anymore. I am also worried that I will stuff my face with food and put weight on, which I dont want to do.
Sorry if I am wittering on, but I could just do with someone to give me a bit of tea and sympathy cause I am feeling sorry for myself!

Welcome to the madhouse....... sorry forum. Ramble away it is what a lot of us do here, so your in the right place.
Well done on your quit, it is not how you start your quit that matters it is how you continue it. Working with smokers can be hard, hopefully when you tell them you have stopped they will support you, and just think you will not smell like them either.
As for eating more, well we all have our opinions on this one, i would say don't worry about it too much, try to snack on healthy options, but one thing at once lets get past the quitting and then work at the weight thing.
I have got the kettle on and the biscuits are out so whenever your ready, one lump or two?
Same name as my sister for one minute thought she had quit i have give her a few hints. HEHE. Just take things one day at a time. Im a school cleaner 13 of us only 3 dont smoke at first its a bit strange but you start to smell what smoking really smells like and your just soooooooo glad you dont smell like that anymore.HeHe. Come her and rant all you like read as many links in members posts as you can and learn all you can about smoking. look forward to getting to know you Maggie. Linda xxxxx
Sorry you've been ill though and hope you feel better very soon but heh you're over half way through the first week which will be a huge help when you return to work again as you'll feel better able to cope with the smokers around you and may even find you can join them in smokers corner without feeling a great craveing to smoke yourself but if you do just return inside for a while or go for a walk that always helps
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members
