I think this will be a difficult day

So day 3 - not so bad. Had a bit of shortness of breath, probably due to anxiety as when I was concentrated on something else I seemed to be fine - This morning, all was good. Felt better then yesterday when I woke up. Lungs did not hurt so much and felt as if I could begin to take deeper breaths YEAH! But still have a bit of shortness of breath. I have begun to miss going outside for a smoke. I do not miss the smoke itself but more the routine of going out there. It always gave me an excuse to get some things done outside. Which now I do not want to do as I am afraid of getting a craving.

Sorry to ramble - it helps to keep my mind distracted. Let's hope day 4 is easier then day 3 CROSSING MY FINGERS!!!

Well done with your quit, you can do it.

You will think about cigarettes for a while, you were around them many times a day for many years so it takes a bit of time to get used to them not being there and the automatic triggers. Reading about and understanding the addiction to nicotine is a great help, you will find the web sites in our signatures.

Wishing you lots of luck will be looking our for your posts.

anybody else have this

I understand why I would have shortness of breath while smoking but why is it I still have it after quitting for 4 days??? Is it only stress, panic attack or what... I keep trying to take a deep breath, yawn or something...

Hi Sasha

i suffered with that whilst smoking hence the reasion i gave up before i was told to by the doc ... it lasted for about two weeks after my quit so dont worry it could be less for you ... oh and yes panicking about it makes it worse so deep breaths when you get them and trust me you have made the right decision quitting now dont go back to them horrible little death sticks be strong in two weeks time you will be feeling great :D

Hi Sasha,

I used to wonder what the hell I was going to do with my life when I used to nip out for a fag, or spark up when I was in a traffic jam, or after a meal, or before a task, etc etc.

The fact is though, you were a slave to having to spark up at set times, and it controled you. It takes a while to realise this because we say to ourselves "no, thats BS, I actually enjoyed my smoking, enjoyed it with my pals, after a meal etc".

I too said all that, and thought all that, even after a few weeks of my quit, but now I realise I was just a slave to the nicotine, and my life is actually enhanced without fags rather than with it.

After a while, and without realising it, you will not wonder what life will be like without them little smoking moments, because you just get used to not smoking, don't crave it, don't want it.

Hey Sasha..... welcome to the forum. I just wanted to let you know that the emotions and physical side effects you are feeling are normal........... it will all pass and things will fall back into place again in time......... for most, a quit is not fun but keep pushing through the tough times and a life not dictated by cigarettes awaits you. Congrats on getting through the first 3 toughest days. Keep going, you won't regret it! :)

Hi Sasha :)

Well done you 3 days done and dusted is great just hang in there

The shortness of breath takes a couple of weeks for you to really notice the difference but it will happen it just takes a little time for the body to start healing from the abuse you gave it while smoking but heal it will Promise

Come here and ramble as much as you like, yell, scream whatever it doesn't matter just don't smoke
