hi all: well just got my champix to-day can... - No Smoking Day
hi all
Hi Jimbo
Welcome back my friend and Congrats on your new quit. sorry cant help with Champix done CT myself but Im sure someone will be about to help really soon.xxxxx
hey jimbo
yeah ill try quickly.
they act as a part blocker for the nicotine and a part mimic for nicotine to the pleasure sensors in your brain.
so basically two things happen, one you dont crave so much as the champix kinda fills the gap, and secondly you become less addicted as the champix blocks the nicotine getting in properly.
thats it in a 30 second rough guide type thing.
glad you giving it a try- it really really helped me.

Welcome and good luck.
I've not used champix, but i've read of quite a few folk on here who have and seems to work well for quite a number of folk but made all the better by being on a forum with like-minded folk .. like most methods i guess.
Hope you succeed with your quit, so good luck again!

Hi Jimbo,
I'm basically new here (only on board for a couple of weeks) but I'm on day 8 of the Champix. Glad to hear you've made the decision to stop again!
What you've been told so far about the Champix is spot on! A couple of pointers are try to take then with food - this is not advised but it really does help you not get the sickness a lot of folk report. Also, try not to overthink as your taking them - I started by thinking of them like vitamins so that I wasn't overly pressuring myself. I also threw all my ashtrays away on Day 7 so there weren't any visual reminders of my habbit and it also forces me to go through the process of actually unlocking the back door and heading out for a cig!
Wishing you all the luck in world Jimbo and take care
Hi Jimbo
Well done for coming back - and good luck this time around!
You have been given some great advice here, and there is more in other threads in here. Most are positive - just be careful when Googling Champix - you will get some horror stories! In these forums you will see a great deal of positive information that I hope you will draw strength from.
Good luck!
