Hello month 3... thats 8 weeks now done, so i guess this is my new forum to be posting in.
Well i passed a small test today, visited some relatives who all smoke, and didn't have any urge to ask for one.. nor did i mind them smoking either. It was their house, and i was visiting, so i said 'don't worry bout smoking around me, i don't need them no more, so it won't affect me'.
The rest of the day i spent driving around in my new car which is my new favourite thing .. better than i expected it would be.. proper decent
Anyway .. right now, i've just had 4 glasses of wine, so i'm gonna collapse in bed i think.. its took me ages to type this post, especially with all the mistypes and spell errors that would have sneaked in if i didn't look out for them
I'll check in tomorrow when I wake ,but hello again month 3 forum..
56 days done.. 1120 cigarettes not smoked... and £318.20 approx saved by choosing not to smoke.
Feelin good.. and goin bed. nn

Love u Jase and me too checking for typos. can u let me know when u will finish with the nicotine thing finally. i know it is good 4 u and i'm all behind every quit is different, so help me out here i have never done patches or whatever and i don't know how long it takes to be nicotine free?
do u feel any different? is the nicotine still in your system? what happens to ur emotions when u finally stop?
Well bev, this week and next week i'm on the final 7mg (step 3) patches.. so this is the lowest nicotine dosage patch in the course, and is my final 2 weeks of being on patches.
Well so far today, so good.. really actually quite fine.. i think the 'dropping you down nicely' approach works quite nicely and as long as you just don't fear the dropping down a size of patch and eventually managing without, you can do just nicely. When you start the patches, you know that you are on the first ones for a number of weeks anyway, but the whole point of them is not to replace smoking.. its to first break the habit of hand to mouth that smoking is.. and then once you drop the patch size, its to then limit the actual nicotine you get in your day. Yes you notice some difference.. but you adjust.. and you adjust quite quickly.
When i stepped down from the 21mg to the 14mg's... i had no problems whatsoever.. in fact by the time i got to the final week or so of the 21mg, i was ready then to got to the 14mg's i think... u just kinda feel like you could manage.
Today though is my first day on the 7mg and I've increased my fruit juice intake too, which i do for the first few days and have done all through this so far.. fruit juice seems to help me tons on patches, and it means i drink less coffee than i usually do too.. i was a bit of a coffee fiend truth be told too.. so replacing with fruit juice is helping in more than one way.
Now if only i could do something about my bad back i seem to have woken with today.. price i pay for giving shoulder rides to my 2 year old yesterday lol
Basically bev.. don't fear it.. embrace it... you've already done what i was in awe about.. you went cold turkey.. so if you are using patches this time around, i am also extremely proud of you, they work, but follow the instructions to the letter. Dropping down the patch size is a necessary part of the treatment process.
Unless that is.. you are going CT again, in which case.. wow! I'm behind you all the way Bev.. you'll always have an ally in me, and i'm proud of you for trying again.
i think it is the only way for me to go, if i had nicotine in my system i know i would tell myself that i really hadn't quit and therefore 1 fag now and again would be ok:eek:
So here i am on Day 5 again, choosing to take one day at a time and choosing not to smoke today.
Fantastic achievement Jase - very well done. I'm sure your experience of using the patches will be of great help to those thinking about it.
Fabulous stuff - and save Joan and me a chair in the lounge will you - we'll be with you very shortly! I'll bring cake, and some nice chocolate chip shortbreads I made yesterday. They won't hang around very long, but I'll make a new batch to celebrate our arrival!
Congratulations to you on your eight week achievement! Your doing fantastically well & should be very proud of yourself
Because of YOU Jase I can now say this:
Caroline - Free and Healing for Seven Days, 3 Hours and 4 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 11 Hours, by avoiding the use of 143 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me £35.65.
I've readched day 7 today & have you to thank for that, when I first posted on this forum about finding it really hard to get passed day one if was you who posted back to me with such sound advice & I was finally able to stop being a half-day non-starter.
So thank-you for all the adivce you have given me & keep up all your hard work - you are an inspiration to us all
Caroline, 7 days .. that is absolutely a wonderful effort and achievement by you.. I'm glad i was about and replied to your earliest posts and i'm really pleased to hear that after a little wobble at the start of the quit you've now gone the 7 days (first week).
Thats exactly the break you needed to start you off.. you know this anyway, but wow... thats great news!! I'm glad something i wrote back then helped you out in this way, but the real success has come from you, and your effort.. with your new found determination. Thats all you.
Alot of this now will be to do with keeping your determination and goals very clear and keep on striding strongly through all the cravings. The cravings matter.. they are proof that you are withdrawing from the addiction, and although some are more intense than others.. you keep strong, and keep standing your ground against the cravings, they pass.. they pass quicker than you realise, and the more weeks you put into this quit.. the easier they will become. I had a bit of a rocky week 3 in my quit and others have in theirs on week 3, so prepare for a little extra work on your cravings in that 3rd week, but for now carry on as you are because its working.. really working.
Pretty sure your Granddad John will be very proud of all this effort you've put in, and will be watching you as you continue to succeed.
thanks, and i will do!, and oooooooooooh shortbreads ...mmmmmmmmmmmm I'm gonna be putting on weight it seems ahh well.
Yeah these 7mg patches aint so bad.. they are tiny little things tho, i look at them now and think.. why am i bothering at all with these, so i'm wondering if thats part of the therapy with them. I've seen bigger postage stamps

Well I think that says it all Jase...I couldn't agree more....you have done a fantastic job with your own quit and everyone elses...you are a legend and a very big congrats to you for reaching 8 weeks:Dxxxx
I'm really glad i can help in a way.. not always sure if i am helping as i know this quitting smoking thing can be horrendous for folk sometimes, and i wish i could send some of resolve out to folk when they need it...sadly though can only post word.. hope they are enough
I actually was thinking the last few days tho.. am i posting too much? is that possible? but i have found that its helping me take my mind off my own quit alot if i can help other folk out.. some folk are struggling a bit and its great to help out when i seem to be doing ok.
I had a few horrible days last week though around the time i was buying my new car.. turned fine once i actually was driving it home tho
This week though on the tiny 7mg patches i've been alot better than i was expecting to be.. its like sticking on a 1st class postage stamp now hehe
If you spot me not posting though then i'm probably having a bit of a dodgy period of the quit, and i'll be doing something to take my mind totally off it.. i have the odd day or so like that.
Definitely better this quit tho than the previous one, mindset is so much more focused on me being a non-smoker now than a quitting smoking person.
