Hi KitKat :D

Day 28 well done you Big Hug for you

You're doing great just keep going

Sorry you're struggling a bit today but you know it will pass as the others have done

You can do this and you know that smoking will make nothing better at all in fact it will make it worse as then you have to cope with the guilt you'll feel and the anger at yourself for giving in

Worst of all you'd have to start all over again on day one wouldn't you ??

Do you really want to do that ??

No of course you don't

Love

Sorry to hear you are feeling bad, kids can drive you to anything can't they i have 3 at home 10,6 and 4 also a puppy (ok so i am mad). my 10 year old told me the other day that i shouldn't have a smoke because that could mean i would die and she wouldn't have a mummy. well you try and have a cig after that:eek:

So take the kids out, make the kids dance, give them sweets and a DVD to watch, whatever it takes because you don't want them to have a smoking mummy and you don't want to go through days 1,2,3 etc again.

come here and tell us all about it, and tonight when they are all in bed, treat yourself to that bath, chocolate, wine or all 3.

Keep going we are all behind you.

hi all thanks for support

hi thanks for advice, the truth is i dont own a stereo at the moment!! (eek) , although today despite the rain we braved the park & met up with a friend which lifted my spirits..im on day 29 should i still be posting in month 1??

been invited to a girlie house party friday night i would love to go but in 2 minds, due to wanting fag, i do know that noone smokes whos going (well who i can think of) & no shops nearby....so wot do i do!!! eek i know i shudnt hide myself away but maybe too soon, was gonna have my 1st alcoholic drink on sat night with my other half coz at least at home i can just hide myself away on my p.c.& this forum, if i cant cope lol..wot would i do about at party a bit of a walk home alone & not a safe walk alone either shud i be brave................oh

another patches question help please , when ive been wakeing ive kind of been forgetting to stick on patch straight away, & i feel in okay mood apart from the groggy just woke up feeling... so when i put my patch almost within half n hour of wakeing on or around an hour or so later i feel annoyed & irritable Question is could the strength be too high now or?? coz strangely enough when first started quit i was actually most annoyed & irritable until the patch started to kick in around an hour or so from putting it on??? help please wots going on with my patch

Hi KitKat :D

Day 29 is great Huge hug for you

As for where to post it depends how you're counting the months if you're using calendar months as I am then wait until your quit date comes round then move to month 2

But if you're using Lunar months as you're on day 29 you should be in month 2 already Hope that helps

The party is entirely up to how you feel about it but if as you say there will be no smokers there than I think if it was me I'd go for it and remember even at a party you do not have to drink alcahol if you don't want to you can stick to soft drinks and still have that first drink with OH at home if that feels safer to you just now

On the Patch question I admit I don't know too much about them only what I have gleaned from here but it sounds to me as if maybe you need a lower strength one now or need to start weaning yourself off them but as I said I'm not really knowledgable enough on this to give sound advice

Why don't you PM BibleBlack he knows more about them than most on here and I'm sure he wouldn't mind helping/advicing you on this

Love

Hi Kitkat

You are exactly one week ahead of me in your quit. Can you believe we've come this far? :) I too started with patches, but only used them for 4 days so I don't have too much of an experience to relate. For me, I just forgot to use one on the 5th day as I was very busy that morning. I did, however, feel they were my lifeline in that first few days and definitely took the edge off my irritability. I was also armed with some NRT gum, "just in case", and when I felt a crave in the afternoon of that 5th day, I had a piece of that instead. I've been using the gum ever since. I've gone from 4 or 5 pieces a day to 1 or 2. Perhaps you could try the lower strength patch and have a bit of the gum ready "just in case"? With a bit of trial and no error (ie having a fag!!), I'm sure you'll soon find a solution which will best suit you. x :)

Hi KitKat

Well done on getting this far. I think you should go to the party it should not be so hard with no smokers at it. I have been to the pub a few times since I quit (21 days) and it was not as bad as I had expected its just one of those situations you have to go through;)

I am on the 24 hour patch so dont have that problem and my first cigarette after breakfast was always the best.

Keep going you will make it:D

hi all

thanks marg but ive not really chatted to bibleblack so feel bit intrusive to pm him?

bev yorks congrats on ure quit x eek 3 kids & a puppy lol yeah that is mad ive got a 12year old crossbreed who drives me mad at times lol but a puppy no way ha ha crazy girl

zolat well done on youre quit x thanks for advice but im afraid the gum is a bit of a no no for me, i stupidly became addicted to both fags n nicorette gum so thats why i chose the patch coz i didnt want a hand to mouth addiction that replaced fags, just wanted to free myself completely?? gum works for lots of people im not knocking it but for me sadly it failed miserably or should i say i failed miserably at the use of it x

irnvnd well done 21 days - you are right to go to party i will probably make a social occasion a gr8 big deal in my head if i dont do it now , never thought of not drinking good idea just to see how it goes.......& yeah i agree its something i have to do whether it be a good or bad experience - im sure ive been through worse things in my life.. youve made me feel confident now thank you x

I get this sometimes on patches.. a proper agitated feeling, and sometimes its a bit weird. Just treat it as normal for now as its probably a passing phase.

What step patch are you on still? the first step? I'm staying on step 1 patches for the duration and will just change once it says to really, i found some folk were able to go to the lower mg patch sooner than it says but that is different from person to person. You'll probably know when you are ready, but do expect when you go to a lower patch that your body/mind will still need to adjust to this, so you may feel cravings again a bit for the first 2-3 days or so. back to gathering strength for that.

hi jase

im on 25mg nicorette invisi patch 16 hour step 1 patch- im doing it through smoking cessation clinic, i am also doing the full course of patches, the nurse said at clinic that physcologists (spell!! ) claim that it takes 3 months(12weeks) for someone to change a habit, so hopefully that side will be easier when the grand moment arrives .. The nurse did also say that i could reduce to 15mg next time if i feel okay, they wanted to start me off on that but i refused & she said well if it helps your head , i said why isnt there much difference, she laughed & nodded .........im definetely not rushing it though its took me so long to get to this stage today i dont want to spoil things for me personally ive got my whole life to think about & im not the strongest minded person in the world..

thanks for tip with reduction process i had a feeling that would possibly happen..have you used patches before? is this your 1st quit?& how you feeling? x

Its not my first quit sadly, i've tried before, but the truth is in the past, i had some very major extreme issues in life which came about well into my quits which i wasn't expecting, they left me at a very very low ebb and I was really quite emotional due to it. Things in life right now are completely different, and i've brought a high sense of positivity to my attempt this time, no major psyching up was involved, i just decided that i was fed up of conning myself that it was ok to smoke, and that i wanted more from life.. and certainly wanted to reclaim my health, extra money and the sense of wellbeing that i missed so much.

When you drop the mg dosage patch wise your body/mind will complain a little, its natural, the first 2/3 days you'll get some cravings which i can only say are similar to your first week but in no way as strong.. deep breathes helped me alot when i got them, and heck.. picture a sandy beach in your mind too.. the type of sandy beach in a nice distant place that you'll be able to afford with the extra cash is perfect. Cravings pass soon enough. Just be prepared for them in the early days. You will need to reduce your mg dosage anyway, its how it goes, you may cope just fine, not even notice hardly, but i'm always a fan of being prepared for possibles, and with preparedness comes resolve.

Heres to you, please feel free to give me a yell anytime, i'm a quitter just like you, i simply won't quit this quit.
