Hiya all, sorry i won't post in here much as only found these forums once i got to week 3 of which today is part of that week.
To anyone just starting out, do exactly as i did. carry a pen in your hand and in those moments when your at work and your at your usual danger moment, go find someone at work who you've not spoken much to in recent weeks but you get along well with and just say hi Pass the moment with friendly banter, and hope that your mini-craving passes soon. AND THEY DO!!!
I've been using the niquitinCQ patches to replace my 20 a day habit and although i have been waking up a bit in the night 'wide awake' or having the odd very lucid dream.. even 'omg' a dream about smoking.. i figured ahh this is all just part of quitting, and no way am i going to let this beat me. Yes i've quit twice before and have been gutted twice for starting again.. but you know? this time, i've got whole new reasons for quitting, and i'm quitting for me this time.
I wish you all the very best of luck, and hope you get through your first 2 weeks as easy as i have this time. You'll get 'moments' of cravings, of course you will, but treat them just as you would a baby.. use distraction techniques.. it works.. it has for me anyway, and when that don't work, come back on here and tell us lot. From what i've seen so far.. folk on here are all in the same boat, we all want to succeed, and we will. Its just a day at a time, and resisting.

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK
well done on 3 weeks im also using patches (28 days today) ive been going through a nhs smoking clinic on nicorette 16 hour invisi 25mg ones, then slowly wean off them...i hope lol
how you finding patches? i find it does take the edge off the quit but is still difficult at times?
The only problem i'm experiencing at the moment, is wakefulness in the night, take this morning for example.. 4.30 to 5.15am, i must have woke up at some point then but i wasn't just 'half-awake' i was 100% awake.
On the patches i'm having some of the most real, yet positively mad dreams ever, some of them in places i know a little bit.. and others in places i don't know too well. I'm starting to wonder whether smoking inhibits dreams in that what i'm experiencing is just a re-awakening of my relaxation that allows me to remember my dreams.. the only problem being i keep waking up after them.
I'm sure this bit will pass in the days/weeks to come along.. til then i'm thinking of putting a pen n paper by my bed in case I either wake up with 6 very clear numbers between 1 and 49, or that i have the plotline for a hollywood blockbuster
During the daytime hours though, yep, the patches do take the edge off, but i do still get cravings after lunch as i found out today.. had a bit of a strong craving which soon passed.
Sorry to hear you're waking to early just now but this is normal as are the weird dreams and it doesn't seem to be just people on patches but all of us can get them no matter what we use to help even people going C T have them
Normally wakefulness is not a problem, but when you are awake well before your alarm on a monday morning, you tend to get to thinking how hard the day will be without sleep and that may mean tetchy which makes normally difficult mondays, a nightmare.
I'll try and make up for it tonight, might even try a nytol and see how i fair
Off home from work now, yay survived monday... i'll logon again later after 8.30pm for a lil bit. Going to watch the 2 episodes of 'House' i recorded last night on my sky+.
but at least i've got another 2 weeks supply of patches today Here's to week 3/4
Just wanted to say well done! Terrific stuff! I am not using patches, but have done in the past and found that taking them off when I went to bed solved my sleep problems. It means a bit of a panic first thing in the morning, but as you are at week 3 maybe that would be OK?
Have taken the patch off in the last half hour, will likely go bed sometime in the next hour.. hoping for a good nights sleep tonight. Its funny but i'm struggling more with the sleep thing than the cravings right now.. hopefully without the patch over night should be fine.
