thank God for this forum. quit 8 weeks ago today , still up and down but having more up days. finding that no one seems to care any more that i quit, at first they were suportive, saying im proud of you, well done. now nobody talks about it and when i mention it they dont seem to care, its as if they are wondering what the big deal is, and one of my friends said its been weeks, get over it. so thank you to this forum , my real suport network, everyone here understands how hard it is x

I know exactly what you mean, I have stopped mentioning it in real life and just come on here when I need to discuss anything, I think non-smokers think you should be over it by now because they don't really understand addiction and the smokers don't like to talk about it because it makes them see that it is possible to stop smoking and they are in denial.

Very well done on 8 weeks by the way, glad to here you are having more good times than bad :D

Well done Jac, that means it is 8 weeks for me too :). I agree no one talks about it anymore even Mark doesn't mention it now and it is nearly 3 months for him. I know my friend that stopped on the 1st of June never mentions it but I think she has turned into a secret smoker as when I went the other day she didnt know I was going to pop in, there was a lighter on the side and I could smell stale smoke. I didnt say anything or mention smoking. I am glad we have this forum as even though the real world ignores what we have achieved the forum doesnt :)

Yes this forum IS a lifeline. I don't post a heck of a lot, but sometimes all I need to is READ what people have said, the encouragement, the words to helps overcome a craving and I feel better and it strenghtens my resolve

thank you to everyone who posts :)

Hi Jacqueline :D

Nice to see you back here again and well done on 8 weeks quit

I agree people just don't understand what it takes to quit this addiction, it's not that they don't care but they do seem to think that a couple of weeks and that's it

I think that's what makes this forum so good we've all been there at some point no matter where we are in our quits

Yep I agree

This forum is a lifeline, at the moment (40days yesterday) people are still quite supportive, though it would seem this will tail off. Looking forward to be 8 weeks off the tabs (congrats again), as well as 8 months and eight years.

Every day I'm a day further away from smoking, off out to spend some dosh on a new dress out of my "cigarette savings". Have a few crave challenges this evening, namely alcohol and being outdoors with a BBQ, no smokers around tonight tho so will hopefully be ok. Was out last night with a friend who does smoke (although she smokes so few don't really understand why she ever bothered) she did smell of ciggs though.

Sense of smell coming back, not a good thing all the way round!!!

Mood still up and down, will start compiling a list of foods to avoid, cheese being a main culprit at the moment. Despite all the niggles tho, need to remember that just stopping smoking is a ruddy achievement.

I have been quit for 1 Month, 1 Week, 3 Days, 14 hours, 33 minutes and 20 seconds (40 days). I have saved £176.63 by not smoking 812 cigarettes. I have saved 2 Days, 19 hours and 40 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 31/05/2009 20:00
