My question here is, should I avoid hanging around with other smokers? I'm gonna begin the gruelling process tomorrow. But one of the biggest problems I fear I may face is being around other smokers.
I'm lucky that none of my close family smoke, but probably around 75% of my friends do (says a lot about todays youth, eh? ;)). I could probably avoid seeing them for a while but I don't want to isolate myself from people. I also don't want to be on my own for long periods of time because I will most likely just get bored and the temptation will be unbearable.

i would suggest if you can at all avoid smokers for the first week or two then do, there is no point on putting extra pressure on yourself unless you have to,
Well done on your decision to quit, especially at such a young age. Don't want to wait till your as ancient as me to do it LOL.
This forum is brilliant for help, advice, a friendly voice. Even if the topic is not smoking it takes your mind off any craves you may be having.
I am sure Marge has given you some great sites to visit. Whyquit.com is my fav. Even last night I found something on there I had not read before but which scared me to death & made me pull a 'ooooh face'
In my experience the thought of being with smokers is worse than the actual event. Always found that it does not actually bother me which is a bonus for your social life.

Hi Tom
I don't really think you need to avoid being around other smokers except maybe for the first few days of your quit I never did and after all you can't avoid them forever can you?? and wherever you go smokers will be about somewhere
As Gaynor say's the thought of being around them is far worse than being there and you don't have to stand right next to them if you don't want to
hi tom i used to go out with smokers at work it smells really horrible and i used to observe them and think after the first few puffs it was just habit pity them but dont tell them your the winner health and money
