Just got my prescription!!!!!

Hi All

My name is Carol and I am 49 and been smoking 20+ for about 35 years. I have been looking at this site for a few days now and have finally taken the plunge and went to the doctors this morning and got my prescription for Champix.

Now I just have to get myself ready to start taking it!!! A bit worried about all the side effects that everyone is saying they suffer from. So must admit I am a bit scared but determined to give it a try.

Carol

Welcome Carol you have made a great decision to stop smoking.

There is a lot of help here from all us members who will cheer you along and listen to you if you need some help. I personally did not use Champix but I am sure someone who did will be along with some advise soon. There are some websites in my signature which are very helpful, they explain about the addiction to nicotine, it will help you to understand what goes on while stopping.

Look forward to seeing your posts.

hi caz,

good luck with the Champix - its a great drug but you have to really really want to quit smoking as well as it doesn't deal with the habit or the psychology, but it is great for suppressing the nicotine craves. this forum will really help you through the more difficult times though,

All the best - you can do it!

Hi Carol :)

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

I also quit with the help of Champix and found it really good and the only side effect I had was nausea with the morning one so took it mid morning instead of first thing and that stopped it

Don't be scared of it please not everyone gets side effects with it after all but the ones we notice when reading about it are the ones we remember I personally know several people who have used it and had no problems or like me only had a little discomfort which soon passed

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Best Wishes
