help, im on day 20, quit cold turkey with help of alan carr and hypnotherapy but dont know how much longer i can hold out, i just want to feel normal again instead of this person who thinks about nothing else but cigarettes from morning til night and having anxiety episodes. can anyone tell me when it gets any easier and when you experience getting up in the morning , going through the day without any thoughts of cigs. i dont want to ever go through this again so it either works this time or i never do it again but when do you feel like life is normal again. according to allan carrs book im supposed to be a happy non smoker but im bloody well not . why does it feel like its getting more difficult instead of easier.

Hi Jacqueline :D

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

Well done on your almost 3 week quit, very soon now it will start to get easier for you, read the links in my and other peoples signatures they will help you get your mind set right, it is a mind battle for you now OK

Once you get the mind right it will be so easy but no one can put a time limit to it for you

As we're all different so are our quits going to be and some find it easier than others

Love

Hi Jacqueline,

A lot of people suffer from the "Terrible Threes", and you are at about 3 weeks now. Three days, three weeks, three months - seem to have a particular way of catcching some people. Stay strong, and the things you describe will become easier. But as Marge says, there is no way of saying exactly how it will be for each person. You have done so well to reach 20 days. Build on that and you will be counting in months soon.:D

It does get easier, I promise, but as Deke and Marge said everyone is different and their quit is different. It's all in the mind set. Read the links at the bottom of this post. Don't just glance at a few articles, read everything! It helps to know about your addiction. The more you know the easier it is. Meet your triggers and craves head on and say(out loud if you have to) I choose not to smoke! I choose life!

Hi hun

You are doing so well!! I had a wobbly moment on day 18 I felt like i was going mad. I got through the terrible 3's and here I am 3 months later, eek better watch out for the complacecy stage!!

Things do get better you will stop thinking about smoking less and less,it will never go away but you will be able to manage things better.

Keep strong J

things will get better, week 3 was damn awful for me but with support from here and lots of reading I got through it. Take each day at a time and think how great you will feel tomorrow having stayed quit for another day.

stick with it, you will get through it xxx
