Hello all!

This had been my first day (almost its only 6pm) without a cigarette. Im on 15mg nicorette patches and the inhalator. Its the first time i have tried to quit and am feeling very positive. I have not had any real cravings all day as the patch seems to be working really well and topping up with the inhalator. I think its going to be harder the rest of the week being at work with staff smoking.

Has anyone tried reading the alan carr book? iv heard its helped a few people with the cravings and theres loads of videos to motivate on youtube.

I have also printed out a few nasty pictures of cancer infected lungs and that picture of the blokes neck that are on the back of fag packets and plastered them around the house and car to keep me motivated.

Have read the other posts on here and want to say good luck to everybody! :D

Good for you wafs and wellcome to the forum. You will find links with some peoples posts, it has been suggested that you read them, because they are said to be beneficial to the readers. I have the Alen Carr book, had it about 10 weeks now, never looked inside the covers yet, same applies to another book bought for me along with cd, never listened to. Soon have your first day in, onwards and upwards. I used patches to start with accompanied by the odd inhalator cartridge, found out after a while I didn't need that though. All the best. David

Hi Want a Fresh Start :D

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

I have the Alen Carr Book and have read it, but to be honest it didn't do much for me although lots of people on here swear by it and will no doubt be along later to welcome you

All the Best

Hi Want a fresh start,

Welcome to the forum. I hope the rest of your first day went well, and that your second day is good too. The Allen Carr book was helpful to me as well, but do check out the sites mentioned by Margareth in her reply, good stuff in there too. The more you know about your addiction the better equipped you are to fight it.

keep strong.

Deke

Hello all!

and that picture of the blokes neck that are on the back of fag packets

That picture is the worst one in my opinion that picture is reason enough alone to stop smoking, when I was still smoking and I got that pack from the shops I used to ask them to swap it for another just so I didn't have to see it everytime I got a ciggie out

Good luck with the quit, it gets easier the longer you stick at it
