hey, im new to this forum and decided today tht I was gonna cut down on cigarettes and then eventually stop but even that has completely failed, I havent managed to even cut down and its only day one.I just feel atm like im gonna be hooked to these things forever

Hi Kmarie,

I hope you can find the power to stop smoking. You have taken the first step to stopping. Have more confidence in your decision and you need to really want to stop smoking.

You will have cravings good days, bad days. This forum and the 2 websites at the bottom will be of help. Read a lot knowledge is power it will make you understand about your addiction and help you stop, setting yourself free from the nicotine monster. I wish you luck and hope you succeed and keep on trying, never stop trying

Hi there, you sound like myself on quite a few occasions in the past, i always threatened myself i would stop but always there was a reason not to, whatever it may be it was always in the favour of the fags.

Then this is where i believe when they say you must want to stop to succeed, it had been playing on my mind for a while, then i just made my mind up and that was it, if you get your mind set you can do this, im living proof, i never for one moment thought i would be saying i have NOT smoked for 7 weeks ... and here i am, if you want it bad enough you will do it ... all the best and good luck.

hi kmarie,,well come to the fourm,you have to went to stop smoking,other wise you will put your self throught hell and back,,i have stopped 6 months ago,and i have been told i am in the early stag of emphysema,i am getting a 2nd chance,,i will say no more ,,its up to you ,stop smoking or carried on,,you just keep the faith and keep

I too took a number of attempts to actually make up my mind to stop, I kept making excuses why not to stop......oh next week cause this week will be stressful at work oh next week cause I'm going out this weekend...........and on and on I went until I finally said to myself do i really want to stop or not, I finall wrote down all the reasons for stopping and here I am on day 6.....I'ts not easy so I won't kid you it is.............far from it but if you are determined then go for it. Sunday I thought I was going to go mad, nothing I did would get rid of the cravings but taking one minute at a time helps, coming on here helps and drinking plenty of water helps, especially when those evel cravings rear their ugly head...........read all the threads everyone on here has gone through the same, which helps...if you see what I mean.......I'm using Champix......which is a god send, don't think I could do it without them
