Hey, i'm really started to think about quitting, but it just seems impossible! Bear in mind that its 4am, i'm sitting here waiting for esso to open at 6:30am, only been two hours since i've smoked and i seem to be going insane! constantly checking the time, having a go at people on msn, is this all in my head? surely this cant be real, its only been two hours! Yet its been like this for so long, if i dont have at least one an hour it messes me up..

Thanks for reading anyway, writing seems to help! I'm 16 by the way.

Kriss

Are you trying to do this on your own or have you considered speaking to the doctors/nurse about giving up.

You are very young to be so addicted. I wouldnt try and do this on your own and its great you are wanting to quit.

You will get plenty of support from here but with the cravings so bad from earlier this morning I think you should look at some sort of NRT to help you.

Take care.

Hi Kriss :)

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

No you're not going insane at all, I well remember doing the waiting for somewhere to open bit many times as a smoker, it's because you feel you're being deprived of something but you're really not giving up anything at all

Good Luck

Hi KRISwho

I've only got a couple of minutes before I go to work but I just felt I had to answer you before I go.

You have told your brain that it's going to have a ciggie when the garrage opens in 2 hours. So now, it's waiting for that 2 hours to pass so it can get it's fix.

When you decide to stop smoking you tell your brain it's not getting anymore and there is a huge difference between the two.

Please don't judge trying to stop with the experience you've just had of waiting for the shops to open.

It's not as hard as that I promise you. We've all had times when we've run out of fags and it seems like forever while your waiting to get some.

If you could stop now, while your lungs are so young, I'm sure they would recover much quicker than they would if you wait till your in your 20s or 30s.

Speak to your doctor about NRT (nicotine replacement therapy)

Well done for even thinking about stopping 'cos that's the first step.

All the best

Hopeful

I know this sounds terrible but I found myself actually laughing at his posts..we have all been there havent we? a desperate search for a dog end and maybe getting one drag out of it whilst burning your nose with the lighter. It sounds crazy but thats what addiction does to you..Seriously you seem to be suffering because you are not approaching this correctly, like previous people have said see your GP, use NRT to help, get the support from your parents (if they know you smoke), and use this forum..you are not alone..

Hey Kris, my Daughter started smokin, when she was 15 i found out. I was rather annoyed but blamed myself coz i smoked in front of her.

I felt it better to do it in front of me rather than behind my back, plus i got to know how much she smoked.

She was given an Inhalator by the school nurse(with my signature) and she did real well, she fell back though, she is now 17 and smokes still but not every day.

Your still young and you can break the cycle, the older you get the harder it will be for you.

I wasn't much older than you when my Dad died of cancer, would you want to inflict that on your own children later in life when you have kids.

Its worth thinking about.

Good luck if you do decide to quit.
