First Day for me

Well. I have had some success in the past with hypnosis. The longest lasting was for 18months, then a weekend overseas with boozy, smoking pals put paid to that. BUT today I have started on champix.

A smoker since I was 15, now 57 and 30 a day, it's about time I gave up for good.:p

First tablet about 2 hours ago and already have a bit of a headache, maybe imagined?:(

Appreciate support on here if possible.;) Going to be tough. Very worried about the possible side effects that I have read about on here as well.

Lets see what happens.

Hi Fagend :)

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

I also quit with the help of champix, with no side effects apart from feeling a little nausea with the morning one, just took it later on and no further problems

Good Luck

I'll keep you all updated with my progress. It'll help me to know others care, that's for sure. good to hear not all have bad side effects.

Staron

I spend my life fishing, in fact that's what I do, guiding locally. That's when I think it will be hardest.

Day 2 passed without much happening. Bit of a fuzzy head and the cigarettes tasted a bit stale? Maybe imagined, maybe were?

Had a remembered dream last night as well, but that happens every few weeks anyway. Guess the double/quad doses will be different?

Still smoking same amount at the moment but very early days. Next Thursday is "D" day.

Staron. I fish locally in Berkshire, coarse fishing. Renting a "no smoking" house on the River Wye this summer though.............

Hi Fagend I found I wasnt getting a hit from the cigs and when I started on the blue tabs didnt even want to finish a cig. Yet my OH right up to the day of quitting didnt notice anything different with the cigs.

Hugs:)

Hi fagend

Hi fagend :D. This forum is great for support, you'll find lots of friends here. I absconded for a while myself, but I'm back now .

I think it's important to learn from that experience on holiday. You must be very diligent in remembering what risks you face, even after 18 months (I fell into the same kind of trap)

Wishing you success,

Love P x

I forgot to take my champix the other day and i craved like mad.

1st day is over for you...well done.....things can only get better from now on in xxx

Thanks Guys and Gals.

Days 5 and 6 were the worse. Really bad headaches all day. Took about 4 paracetomal, bit worried if that was ok.

Day 7 ok. Finding I'm sleeping very heavily for the first 5 hours then almost waking up as part of a dream!!!!

Day 8 today and noticed I keep forgetting to have a ciggy? Bit strange.

I initially planned day 9 to stop but (and this is not a cop out) looking at suggested days 8-14 think that day 10 would be best especially after 2 days of the double blues!

Off to Spain for a weeks fishing Sunday, with 3 NON SMOKERS.:D
