Argh...can't stop thinking about...!

Hello all,

Have been going pretty good so far - the occasional reach for an inhalator but not much more.

Today I've had a bit of a bad day, for some unknown reason I've been thinking about smoking constantly all day! I don't know why, and no urge has been enough to actually want a cigarette but I just keep reminiscing about how it tasted etc and my original quit reasons seem less important...I'm being rather short sighted about it all...

Anyway, just letting off some steam, I'm sure I won't be smoking ever again but I just wish I didn't think of it, and that nobody else smoked so I wouldn't get that "jealousy" thing...

Coralie xoxo

Hi Coralie - what you're feeling is exactly the same as nearly all ex-smokers I'm sure!!

It's strange how we can feel 'jealous' of smokers when in reality, they are really jealous of us. Don't be put off that you have been thinking a lot about smoking today. I think you go through a stage when you get 'bored' by this quitting thing.

I know I have failed before at about the 6 week mark because I was bored of giving up. Now I know that if you stick it out a little bit longer - those feelings disappear.

Well done on getting as far as you have - and don't worry - your feelings are normal :D:D

Hi Coralie x I was only thinking about you today!! weird... :D

I actually think it is a stage us Marchers are all going through at the moment!!

I know I have been thinking about them more than normal these past couple of days, then when I come on here, nearly everyone that is having a GRIZZLY time is a MMQ, so i do think it's probably a normal stage!!

Hopefully, we will all be up and at em' in the next couples of days. Don't get me wrong, it's no way as strong as day 3 of my quit....and I will NOT fall off the wagon.... just a few more thoughts than normal... but they pass quick enough, so nothing too bad.

Well done Coalie... keep up the good work.;)

Aww...nice to know there are lots of us in the same boat, helping each other out!

I'll tell you what, as much as I'm thinking about them/having the jealousy thing I was stuck in a car of a smoker the other day for an hour (it reeked of smoke!) and when I got out I felt seriously sick!! Gotta be a good thing, right?!?!

I think as was said by Jerry - you maybe get bored of the quit - the inbetween stage between new quitter and non smoker...ugh I hope it passes - I've lost 9lbs since my quit but I'm starting to eat more! Better than smoking I know, but trying to keep on the healthy road!!

All support appreciated - thanks!! Keep up the good work everyone!

xoxo

I know what you mean about the smell!! My hubby still smokes..and he smokes in the dining room ( can't stand him smoking in the lounge ) .... and it smells that bad...I can be up stairs and I know he has lit up down stairs!! that's how bad it is!! Luckily he has switched to roll ups now, which don't smell as bad weirdly enough  BUT they do still reek!

Weird how you can't explain to a smoker the smell though!! I would not have believed people had they told me how bad it was when I smoked.

Hi Coralie

Hello all,

Have been going pretty good so far - the occasional reach for an inhalator but not much more

Sounds a lot better than "pretty good" to me - sounds pretty blooming marvellous!!:D

I agree with Jerry-Lee, the "boredom" factor can start playing with our minds, and Slinky is right too - the MMQ Crew have been facing a few similar problems. The psychological bits that get to you a while after all the nicotine is gone and when you maybe thought that things would be getting easier.

Let off steam whenever you want - damn sight better than taking in smoke!:p

Keep strong

Deke

Hi Coralie :D

Good to hear from you, so glad you've been doing well, but sorry you had a rough day yesterday, so hope you feel better today

You'll maybe get them now and then, but keep the reasons to quit in mind OK

remember that the smokers around you are jealous of you and wish they had your courage

Just hang in there and It will get better and easier every day

Love
