42 hours of CT. PAST HALF WAY!!!!!!!!!!

I'm feeling good. Deep breathing through the odd crave and just keeping my eye on the goal. By 3pm tomorrow I will have got the nicotine out of my system. Then it's just the head stuff I've got to worry about.

My daughter is comming to visit later today and she's a smoker. We used to sit and have a coffee and a ciggie together. I'm a bit worried about how tempting it will be while she's here but I can't mess this up now. She is very proud of me and she has said that she'll keep the fags out of sight. I suppose there has to come a time when I have to be around cigarettes and people who smoke.

It's hard to understand how I really want to be a non-smoker but I still am a long way off of trusting myself to be around cigarettes. I think I probobly need to read some more to educate myself.

How's the rest of you? Staying Strong

Hopeful,

just hopped on to see how you were going and here you are nearly done! Friday afternoon it will all be over and you can celebrate no more nicotine controlling your life! Focus on the positive this afternoon. You are no longer having to worry when you will get your next hit, no longer smelling like an ashtray, you are improving your health and lifespan and money in your pocket and by quitting smoking you have given up nothing. Well done. xx

Hi Hopeful

Wow you are so brave to go CT so soon in your quit. How are you coping?

I am using patches as I am not as brave as you but wonder if that is why I think of smoking every min of the day.

Big well done and lots of hugs and kisses.

Hi CJM

Give CT a try... it takes 72 hours to rid the nicotine from your system.... with patches its a long drawn out process and hell if Im gonna have nicotine in my body then Im gonna smoke a fag !!!!

COME ON CJM give it a try....... if it gets too much you can always stick one back on anyway....

Hi CJM, I was thinking of smoking every min of the day too and I was exhausted with it. I did some reading and began to wonder if it was the gum that was causing it. I just thought I'd give it a go. If it was too hard for me then I would have had the gum there to revert back to. To my suprise it actually got easier.

You never know it may work that way for you too. Good Luck with which ever way you decide to to it, We're all doing great, this isn't an easy thing to do and we all have to make our own way through it. But I can promise you it got at least 50% easier for me.

Thanks to you all for your support, I'll keep you all posted. And thanks billy for breaking down the craves into mins like that it was a great way for me to look at it.

Caroline, What marg says is true. You can stick a patch on if you need to and I promise you that I believe that chewing that gum was like poking this addiction with a stick. I was really scared and not at all sure that I could do it. But I just wanted to get it over with and felt that the NRT was dragging it out for me. I can't believe I've done it and it was much easier than I expected. Fingers crossed that I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch, but I can honestly say that this is the best I have felt since I first started quitting about 7 weeks ago.

You must do what's best for you and remember that were all here for you.

I'm so thrilled to be reading your posts now Hopeful :D Really I am!!

You sound like a totally different person to the one I knew on the gum :D

I really wish all people would just take a little slice of what you are saying and give it a try!! I really do think that NRT draws the process out ( including my poor friend who is still struggling like mad after 3 and 1/2 weeks ) :(

As you said, no probs if they find it too hard, they stick a patch on or have some gum or whatever!! but I wonder just how many people are sat struggling...when they COULD maybe be feeling better

I'm here and on a real high. Hope your good too. I couldn't post much yesterday it was really tough for a while. I can't believe how angry I felt all day. I'm not usually an angry person as a rule but yesterday I think my neighbours must have thought they were living next to a mad lady. My smoke alarm went off when I was making some cheese on toast and I started to scream at it "My bleepin house isn't on fire you stupid bleepin thing shut up, shut up, shut up" Honestly I was making more noise than the alarm. My daughter just looked at me screaming at the alarm and I looked at her. She started to laugh and I burst in to tears.

It all seems quite funny now but at the time I thought I had gone mad. What a way to behave. Why don't they put that on the fag packets. Don't Start 'cos you may very well go mad when you try to stop.

Anyway, I feel great now. What a rollercoaster this has been. I can never go through this again. I must never smoke again.

How's you Hope your having a good day.

Stay Strong.

Thanks Slinky, yea I think your right. I know we all have to do this our own way and I was originally scared to try CT but I got so desperate of feeling rubish for soooooooo long that I just deceided to try. Thank heavens I did cos I feel that I've really turned a corner.

This site and all the good advice on what websites to visit and just knowing that someone is there and understands what your going through has been what's got me through.

I hope your friend will find the courage to try again.
