Hello again day 1 !!!

Hi everyone.

I have been reading the forums for a few weeks but never registered until now.

First of all I would like to thank the people that reply to the quitters with helpful advice and encouragement. You do a great job :) Undoubtedly you are saving lives.

I gave up 9 days ago. It was going well until day 7, then I bought some cigarettes! I smoked for 2 days, up until last night, so here I am, stopped again today, and back on the wagon. This has happened about 5 times over the last 3 years. I find it easy to stop for about 5-7 days, and then I start smoking again. I think my motivation drops after a few days!

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks.

David.

Hi Davidlincoln :)

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathiseing with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

First don't think about past failures most of us have them I know I have but look to the smoke free future you can do this if you really want to get your head straight with reading and all will be well

Good Luck

Marg

dust yourself off

For starters, you are doing great to post here, and to be trying again so quickly. Is it the weekend that gets you back to smoking? You may need to reevaluate your goals on a daily basis, as different things trigger different feelings about smoking. Try not smoking for just one day, over and over again, as opposed to making a long term goal. Thats what I had to do. And when you reach the 5-8 days period... reevaluate your reasons for quitting in the first place, educate yourself on the benefits that are already appearing, and on the ones around the corner, and just don't take that first puff. It is a long process, but trust us when we say it is definitely worth it in the end. When you feel the need for a puff, come on to the forum, rant, rave, yell, it helps get your mind off of things as weird as it sounds. Good luck, hope you can stick with it.

Viking.

As Marg said David welcome to the forum, you'll like it here, we're all here for the same reason so make yourself at home. You say you're back ON the wagon David, thats no good you might fall off, climb IN with us. I am only 23 days smokefree, but up to now it's the best thing I've ever done. Try it like Viking said, think to yourself, today I will not smoke, if need be, split the day up, but give it a go mate. David
