I’ve done it... again!... but I really want this time to be the last time I have to give up. My main incentive is my little girl – I’ve kept her away from smoke, but I saw the advert with the little one saying she wasn’t afraid of spiders, the dark etc – she was afraid of her mummy dying. Having recently lost my dad and knowing how much this hurts, it struck a chord. I also don’t want the stale smell following me around – I want to cuddle her and smell as fresh and beautiful as a mummy should!
Of course, another aspect is the money – and in these hard times, it’s a good time to start saving the pennies.
So this time, I really really must do it – for so many reasons – I decided today was the day without knowing that it was national no smoking day – so I think it must be meant to be!
Good luck everyone – it’s only been since this morning, and it's not easy – but I want to be a no smoker!

Your Little girl will love her new smell nice Mummy
I know a week or so after my quit and I hadn't told my Daughter and her family I was quitting, [the only one who knew was my son] my 6 year old Grand Daughter said to me "You smell nice Grandma" I sat and cried poor little girl thought she had upset me and went running for Mummy to make Grandma better
You've cited a lot of reasons not to smoke and every single one of them stand on their own as being incredibly valid.
There almost seems like a myriad different quit techniques but it seemingly they only take you so far. For a fair few of us it isn't easy at the outset, and I was wondering what quit aid you were using, if any?
Margaret talked abut educating your way to a successful quit and we do seem to have a fair few folk advocating that added on to your preferred initial start can make a quit more successful.
Welcome Bippityboo and great job on making this great decision to stop.... I have a little one as well and it feels good to not have to run outside all the time.... sad really but a couple of days after I stopped smoking my little one all of a sudden said 'you smell funny' - she said it several times (after I brushed teeth or put lotion on) Apparently she was not used to me not smelling like an ashtray.... poor thing.... makes me want to cry that I smelled bad and it was her normal mommy smell..... this is a DEPRESSING story and I will NOT tell it again
We will be lovely smelling mommies from now on!!! Good luck, Bippi.... it gets easier. Post on here and read when it gets tough!!!
Welcome on board Bippity. Just think - not only are you going to get better health and more money in your pocket - but the guilt is going to go away! Woo hoo! (not to mention the madness that I'm sure most of us have experienced of panicking when you run out of cigarettes and end up going out at 4am to the 24-hour petrol station or trekking up the road in the rain to buy fags).
Like you, I quit smoking a few times for a few days or weeks here or there but never stuck to it. This time it's different - and I really think this forum is making the difference. Whenever I get the urge to buy some cigarettes I log on to here and the urge goes.
