Well there's not much point me only coming on here to post when things are rosey or to brag about how many days I've gone without smoking, so I may as well share my negative experiences too, which hopefully people may learn from.
I have actually now lost all faith in me quitting!
Today was meant to be day 3 of not smoking, but following a sizeable domestic with my other half, I have relapsed and have lost faith in my ability to quit.
I know it is no excuse and I know it is my head making excuses for me to smoke, but I've fallen off the wagon with a bump and hate myself for it, which in turn is making me want to smoke more. I just feel like I can't do it now.
Apologies for spreading negative vibes on your forum, but I hope someone can learn from my error. The lesson being that if you are in a stressful situation, don't have 'just one', because I did and my problems haven't gone away. Not only have my problems not gone away, I now have an extra problem in that I now need to figure out what to do from here now I have started smoking again. Plus the little extra bonus of the fact that I now hate myself!
Stay strong people!

there is no need to hate yourself. Many people have been where you are but climbed back on and managed to quit.
Have you read much on whyquit. If not then you really should as it is a wonderful resource and can help you get your head in the right state to quit. Give it a try.
Always understand that quitting has its ups and downs and in the first few days it is mostly downs, however it honestly does get easier after 3 or 4 days. You were almost over the hardest part.
Was the domwstic with your wife started by you as an excuse to say "F%$£ it i am going to smoke. The reason i ask is that on many occassions in the past, i and many others have done exactly that. Created a conflict situation as an excuse to light up again.
It started (as it always does) with 'just one', but obviously you can't buy 1 cigarette from a shop, so the combination of 9 cigarettes sitting in my coat pocket and me feeling down and stressed out has lead 1 to become 3 or 4 and if I am honest, I couldn't promise I will stop now.

Just a thought.
It's possible that I created the argument to create an excuse to smoke, but if I did, I certainly didn't know I was doing it. If my brain can work on such subconcious levels without me knowing it then that is amazing. But then I guess the brain is an amazing thing.
