feeling very pleased with my self for not smoking, came very close too on saturday night atfer some personal stress. so pleased that i didnt cave. have also gone to the other extreme adn been doing very vigourous work outs.

smoking can be such a comfort thing but it really doesnt help you deal with things any better. i would have been gutted if id have justified it to myself.,

also i found friday night difficult as i would ordinarily have smoked as soon as id finished work and then would have smoked away for most of hte night as a reward.

i supposed identifying the motives behind the reasons for smoking is all poart of kicking the habit.

my partner seems to be smoking loads!! we woulod normally match each other with fag breaks when were watchign telly and its surprising to see how regularly he has to smoke. poor thing. ive drank a lot less this weekend compared to normal and its been good not to wake up feeling dehydrated on saturday adn sunday morning

hope everyone out there is still going strong

Marvellous!!

Stay strong and you'll be counting in months before you know it!

Hopefully your partner will see how well you are doing and join you before too long!

Cheers

Nic

Hi Canessa

Brilliant work ...12 days is fab!!

i would have been gutted if id have justified it to myself

Thats exactly what your nicotine withdrawal will try to convince you to do , this is what you must NEVER do and im so glad you recognised this . Well done on that!

i supposed identifying the motives behind the reasons for smoking is all part of kicking the habit

Indeed , it is good to recognise why you smoked at particular times but if you dissect each and everyone you will see like you said before that your body just finds a way to justify it....we smoked when we were happy, sad , stressed , bored , tired, energetic...any emotion seemed a reason to smoke ....wether is was classed as a reward cig or a consolation cig .

This is something you have to distance yourself from .....you might think ...ahh i enjoyed a cigarette when i had just had a bit of good news. You didnt ..you just smoked ( as you always did ) and it was the situation you enjoyed.

Everything you did before with a cigarette you have to do now without one ....I can remember thinking ...how the hell can i enjoy my morning coffee without my morning cigarette ????....well you know what ....I do enjoy my morning coffee , maybe more than i ever did .

Its refreshing to see that you have adopted a certain way of thinking already in your quit ...keep up this positve mental attitude you have , along with what you have learned and you will soon be well on your way to having this quit licked :)

Well done again , excellent work!

Hi Canessa,

That paragraph could have been written by me!

Me and my hubby used to go off for a fag break while watching telly but now I notice how many fags he has - poor chap!

Isn't it good to get up on Saturday and Sunday and be able to breathe, and not feel so rough!

Well done on your day 12, I am on day 8 but feeling REALLY confident and good about my freedom from the fags.

I was actually dreading the weekend cos that's when I smoke the most but now I'm looking forward to it again because I know I can get through it and I enjoyed feeling good about it!

Bible Black - when my OH starts giving me grief about the smell of horse-sh*t that will be the day that me and my OH no longer live with each other!!!

I had my horse before I met my husband so he knows it's 'love me - love my horse!'

In fact - I think I quite likes the smell now! Don't knock it til you've tried it BB!!

Do a bit of screaming, hit a pillow a few times then look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how well you are doing as a non smoker. It will probably help but if it doesn't the it will probably amuse anyone else in the house with you :D

Stick at it you are doing great, it takes some time but do try to think of all the benefits not least of which is being free of the control of nicotine, no having to make the late night run to the garage to buy fags any more etc...

Best wishes

Nic
