Had my last cig on Sunday night, I hope. Have given up before, this time I have 3 accupuncture needles in my ears. Not sure how much they really help, given that I feel quite determined anyway, but it is good to have a doctor supervising this. This was entirely of my own doing.

Funny that the social cigs aren't the hardest ones to give up. The ones at the end of the evening when I am checking my mails seem the ones I'd love to have most. There are some people in my circle of friends who don't know that I started smoking again ... more out of politeness than anything so I can't really announce to them that I am taking the step. But there are plenty of others who I can tell.

I'll keep you informed about my progress. I am cultivating a hatred of these tobacco companeis right now ... quite a good was to challenge negative energy I think. Would be grateful for any support, pieces of wisdom. And good luck to anyone else reading this who is with me!!! :)

Hey welcome

Whatever process works for you!! i tired acupuncture for fertility a few years back, not sure if it worked or not, but all I can say is after 3 years of trying, then 4 months of needles I got pregnant (some say its mind over matter - but if the result the same who cares).

Theres loads of tips and hints for you, in the sub forum, and you may find it useful to read through some peoples threads that are a few days ahead, that way you will see, how the negatives effects are depleting.

I'm nearly 2 weeks now, and can honestly say, its so much easier here - so stick with it.

Yes will do. Thank you for the tip and I'll continue to post to let people know how it is working. The only thing that surpised me was how little background info I got from my doctor .. it was very quick and I wished for a little more of a consulation from him. But maybe that will come with the next sitting so I won't pass judgement just yet.

I'm sorry to say that your experience with the medical profession is about typical. I very quickly realised the only use I had for the clinic I used was to write prescriptions for my champix. When I stopped the tablets after half the course I never went back - and never looked back.

Good luck with everything, read a lot and educate yourself about smoking and quitting. It may sound odd for a smoker to need education about smoking... but try it. I bet you learn a heck of a lot very quickly!!

All the best with it, and please use the forum - it is a massive help.

Hi Tombien

Welcome to the forum,

Congrats on your quit, see the links in Tomatpot's signature? they are well worth reading, and if you can get your mindset to the point where you see quitting as gaining (control/ health/wealth ect) rather than making a sacrifice it will be easier to stay stopped.

Keep posting

Nic

Hi Tombien

I also quit on Sunday night, just decided to go CT. Found this site by accident after looking for the side effects of quitting, couldn't sleep last night but still managing to overcome the cravings (difficult at times). Good Luck and see you on Day 3.

Thanks everyone for the messages and advice. I am happy that I came across this site today and I will be coming back daily.

Once work is over this evening I will head to the gym and stay there for longer. The main test will be later this evening at home. But I have enough there to keep me occupied so hopefully that shouldn't be too bad. I am certainly getting more comfortable with the idea that I won't smoke again – and that is quite critical.

Smoking is always a choice to do something (i.e. putting one on your mouth and lighting it) rather than doing nothing.

Keep choosing to do nothing

Hi All

Thanks for the welcome, I'ts great to know that there are people about who have, or are going through the same experiences as myself. I have spent all day waiting for the UPS delivery man to arrive (still no sign), when the craving starts I get up and go for a walk but thats not been possible, so I started decorating my home office (remove the smoke stains), I didn't realise how bad it had got in 2 years. whats the inside of my lungs like after 30+ years ???

This message has helped another craving pass, back to the painting.

Good attitude Pick

You will find it much more straight forward if you can reconcile the idea that quitting is gaining rather than sacrificing.

Cheers
