nasty champix!

these horrible tablets have given me bad stomach pain today!!! god i cant wait to finish the course. i am bored of feeling sick!!!

my hubby said this morning he doesnt think they are worth it for all the side effects - then i reminded him they are stopping me smoking and he soon changed his mind

All they are doing giving you a bit more control by easing the physical cravings (which stop after 2 weeks cold turkey anyway!). Have you tried varying the time you take them a little? Or eating before, or not eating before... having a drink before...

I found eating and then taking it straight away helped control the nausea... but some find the opposite and eat after taking them.

Just experiment a little and I'm sure you can find a way to help the symptoms.

oh i never thought of that. just assumed i was doing the best thing by taking them right after eating. perhaps il try before next time and eat straight away

im only taking 1mg still cos i cant hack anymore then that so at least its only once a day thank god

Sorry Id couldn't resist getting that in. I have found that if I have a Champix while I am eating helps me a lot. Like a sandwich, have half your food, have a Champix, then finish off with your food.

i can assure you its not because i need to fart :rolleyes:

the pain only came about 5 minutes after swallowing the tablet. the not so agressive pains/nausea iv previously had also only seem to come 5-10 minutes after taking the tablet

so theres a strong correlation there!

Writhing around in agony must take your mind off smoking though so you can’t deny they’re working..??

5 minutes is a pretty rapid absorption rate though.. impressive..!!

I had stomach pains around the second week but I think it's the digestion that is the problem. Have had to alter my diet quite a bit as not smoking has an effect on my stomach (won't give you TMI) but, the pains can be horrid, like trapped wind!!

I had the same thing, in fact there is a particularly unpleasant thread about it somewhere

Basically, for me - everything slowed down and became uncomfortable. But it sorted itself out in the end.

Stomach pain

I am on the 1 mg pills now and WOW the stomach pain is so intense

It hits me within minutes of taking the pill. If this keeps up I am not too sure I can keep this up. I have tried taking food and not taking food there is not change in the pain I am experiencing. I actually have to go and lay down in a fetal position until the pain goes away. I don't feel sick I have been getting mild to moderate headaches. But the cravings are not bad I have been down to 6 cigarettes a day now.

I ended up only taking half the dose after the first 2 weeks and then giving them up altogether after a few weeks. I just could not stand the constant nausea. Champix did provide the initial kick up the butt I needed and I loved the vivid technicolour dreams. I tried all ways to take them but nothing made any difference to that horrible sickly feeling. I'm still stopped though - 7 months on for me.

I have dreams every night sometimes they are nightmares but that is even before Champix.

Apart from the first few days of nausea as I did not eat anything beforehand, I have had hardly any side affects.

The only one I have is tiredness towards the end of the day, So I am going to bed earlier than I normally would

Oh and I have just realised I have dry skin which has started to annoy me
