been here for the last 18 months on and off and i hit a magical 107 days as a non smoker but like a idiot i puffed just 1 ciggie and yep back to being a full time smoker again.
tried to give up a few times but me heart has not been in it.......but
its now getting harder to ignore some basic facts.
my breathing is getting a lot worse now and my lungs ache more and more.
my kids tell me i smell worse than the dog.
so here i go again its been 20 hours and 46 mins since my last ciggie and i am using the cold turkey method but....
i have looked into why ex smokers go back to smoking and i feel its because we convince ourselves that its ok to have just one ciggie.
but its not ok and its easy to stop smoking but remaining smoke free is really hard, i should know because i gave up for 107 days and thought i was free and i took half a fag from an ash tray to prove to friends that my smoking habit was dead and yes it made me sick to smoke it but within 24 hours i had bought a pack of ciggies and wasted 4 months of good solid quitten work.
all day today i have wanted a ciggie but have fought back with the fact that its the ciggies making me want to smoke and its the ciggies that are making my moments feel lonely and to be fair it helps me to cut the craving down.
well will be in touch roll on 107 days and beyond.

Blimey Tim, me and you sound very alike indeed. I too have quit and started many times over!
This time, I have written myself a letter which I carry around with me at all times. It was written just before I gave up, and details exactly why I gave up and how miserable smoking had become for me, and how depressed I was due to smoking. It is true that over time, you really are vulnerable in as far as you tend to forget why you gave up! This is a helpful way of never forgetting, and remaining strong, no matter how long you have been off them!
Good luck mate, I really can relate to you post in a big way!
Timothy, day 1 may be annoying but at least you keep on trying. Make this 'the one' and don't ever fall for the 'just the one' trap again. YOU can do it!
I understand that it may be hard, but you literally have to stop. I was once in your shoes and I ignored warning signs that I got from my chest until it almost killed me, and when I mean almost killed me I mean it.
I spent the best part of a year in hospital and still have some problems to this day. The problem is a lot of people think you have to smoke for a long time for things to go wrong, or you have to be old. You don't. I started smoking at 16 and was in ITU over my 19th birthday.
I am sorry to sound harsh but I have been there. I have been on a High Dependancy ward and seen every other person on the ward have lung cancer except me. I even got to know the patient opposite me and then watched him die.
