The Antifag has CRACKED!!!

nsd_user663_3097 profile image
31 Replies

After months of vigilence and arriving at a comfortable and confident place i can honestly say i have CRACKED.

When i drink i have found a new way of smoking without buying cigarettes..

The antifag has found he can buy a cigar from the bar for 90p.

I have smoked a few on weekends when i drink and now have started buying singles from my local newsagent every couple of days and smoking with a bottle of wine.

I think i am at the stage where i can curb it but need a hell of a lot of mental strength as i find i no longer need to smoke during the day but fancy a smoke in the evening or when i'm drinking, i also find i can have a couple of drags of a cigar then let it go out and pick it up 30 mins later.

I need help!

People please help me, make me stop, i am starting to crave again and need to stop this NOW!

I need you guys BADLY.

HELP ME

One thing i have noticed... the cravings are a bitch, my heart has been erratic, i can actually feel it beating in my chest and a lot fatser then it has these past few months smoke free, my mentality has changed and i amallowing nicotine back in my life, i am afraid it will take a hold again and do not want it back in my life but it feels sooo good having a drag!!

all replies welcome and necessary!!!!!

Hi there,

I see the nicodemon has caught you with the old "Have the odd cigar here and there its not really smoking" lie. Been there bought the T-shirt.:(

You need to treat this as a fresh quit, start again and never take another puff.

It is the only way, you can't get back to the time when you had just started when you were not addicted. If you have the odd one here and there you are almost guaranteed to end up smoking regularly.

Best of luck with it.

Nic

Hi! i'm a newbie to this but stop panicking! the fact that you have realised its getting out of control and was a bad choice to make, is a great step, just remember that YOU are in control of your body, not nicotine and you are better without it.....so like the other guys say.....NEVER ANOTHER PUFF!!!!!!!! hope you make the best decision and stop for good xx

Hey m8 don't worry.

I've been there, I know what it's like. I have just re-started my quit 2day, but don't let that put u off - just think about ur health and bank balance, they are getting healthier everyday, coz uv kept off the fags!!

You can do it, m8, we r all with u :)

Hey Antifag

It looks like you lost a bit of FOCUS and as Nic said, thought the odd cigar wouldn't hurt.

To be cruel to be kind....you have now found out the hard way that the odd cigar does hurt and that the only TRUE way to freedom is to NEVER take another puff of anything!!!!

Get your ass on to whyquit immediately and read EVERY page on relapsing.

Also, well done for realising so quickly that you are back on a very slippery slope.

NOW is the time to do something about it.

Oh and finally, read some of your old posts, from around the 8-12 day mark and realise how much anguish you were in due to nicotine withdrawal.

Now tell me, do you really want to go through that again?

Good Luck this time Antifag.

Be Strong

Really sorry to hear you've been struggling but it seems to be the norm in the latter stages, I think we have all done it but get focused again and start all over again, hopefully it wont be very hard but one puff is one puff too many!

Good luck and I agree with John, read back on your first posts it just aint worth the hassle all over again.

Hi Antifag, I'm really sorry to read of your plight, I know it's a bitch but the times you are using the cigars are the times you should be occupying yourself in other ways, even something daft like ironing a shirt has worked for me. My past attempts nearly always ended with the 'I'll just have a cigar' syndrome and saw me back on the roll-ups before long.

There are 2 main reasons why your heart is beating faster. Firstly, I think you feel guilt and anxiety over your relapse, just remind yourself you are only human like every other nicotine addict. And secondly, you've went so long without introducing nicotine into your vascular system on an hourly basis and now that you have it is doing it's job as a stimulant, therefore causing your heart to beat faster. These 2 factors combined can make you feel these palpitations quite prominently. I hope this helps mate. I have been on Champix tabs which is maybe worth speaking to your Doc about as they help take the edge off these nasty cravings. And yes!! Lay off any booze which is a definite catalyst to smoke. Keep the faith mate.

Errrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmm -hello (peeks round door sheepishly). Thought I might pop in to say hi and to wish Antifag and Jojo all the best in stopping this nasty habit. I know only too well how old nic can get a hold of you again. Am off to see nursey next Tuesday to see if she will put me on Champix (although I have heard some things about them when I mentioned it to people - like depression, nauseousness, etc). Not doing too well CT (even reading Allan Carr John - although I must admit he does talk sense and I will keep reading it).

Wish me luck all coz Im going to need it I think. See you all next week hopefully.xxxxx

PS - I was informed that you smoke during the first week of taking Champix but had to stop thereafter - is this correct. I am sure nursey will enlighten me but wanted to have some information before going. Any replies gratefully received:)

Champix

Hi Jan,

I didn't use it myself, but I recall that you're right...the clinic group nurse did supply it and then people took it while smoking for the first week...

All the best. For what it's worth, I think it's a lot easier after a slip than the original horrid first few days,,has been for me, anyway (I'm about two weeks in)

Antifag stop now!!!!!!

And Antifag,

Just take a pace back, take yourself in hand and make the decision to stop the mallarcky (now there's a word). Sounds like you're panicking a bit!

Remember NO_ONE and NOTHING can force you to smoke.

Short of being put in a straight jacket like one of those poor beagles (what do us humans do to others, huh??).

So get the distance and the calm you need to see your way through to another stop...whatever you call it.

You're indulging in old-style junkie thinking...and you know it's the ANTICIPATION of the cigar that's pulling you. No experience of smoking as such is pleasurable by an innocent body and mind.

You know this! Go do what you have to to kick this out of your life NOW!!!

Bill :(

Hello Jan me auld pal ! Champix comes with all instructions - from memory they recommend you stop between day 9 and 14 (or something like that) of starting taking the tablets. I'm sure I stopped day 10, but hardly smoked any on days 8 and 9 as I was starting to feel queasy every time I lit up.

I didn't have many side effects, farted a lot though, but that may have been the frozen grapes

Get yer heid in gear too Jan, you know[/I] it makes sense!

Antifag! Cigars?? Dear God man, back to reading literature and nagging other people to stop. You know you don't need those things to enjoy yourself, as already advised, quit the bloody drinking for a while!

Get back on the wagon and we'll say no more about it

Hi Jan, you will find that champix just takes you over and you forget to smoke, any thoughts of a cig go very quickly, when you do smoke you don't get the nicotine 'rush' and put the cig out half way thru until you just can't be bothered to light one cos it's giving you no satisfaction -but your brain is happy with that.

It will take up to 2 weeks for the full effect to be felt, then just pick a day to try without a cig (they just become stupid 'habit' ones) and you will find it's pretty easy to go without. Some folk take longer than 2 weeks, some less it depends how you feel.

It is a wonder drug-for me anyway.
