Awwww Can't you just carry on Barb??? I know 2 days of smoking is more than the odd puff, but what are two days compared to the rest of your days smoke free??? Just take a couple of day off your quit and carry on as before. Seems a shame to go right back to day one when you have only messed up for two days. However, if it makes you feel better being at day one again then so bit it, but I think you should just carry on with your quit as before (minus a couple of days).

Hi Barb

Sorry to hear about your blip and so glad to see you bounce right back, you are definately not on your own, I myself have bliped earlier in my quit and so many times before in previous quits, the key is not too put yourself under pressure for this as giving up this drug is probably the hardest thing that we will have to go through and sometimes it takes time and time again to master this.

I nearly caved in myself on the weekend, its this bl****y lovely weather, sitting out in the garden with friends, pub gardens and relaxing with a drink or some bbq food and i'm really missing them at the moment.....

I have always read your posts and enjoyed them, you have something nice and encouraging to write to others and have helped me along my quit.

Take care and good luck.

Hi Della

How are you.

I know exactly what you mean about the weather and sitting out relaxing, thats what done it for me.

I have happy memories of enjoying myself with my family in the garden and i just joined in with them. Then one led to another and another.

We can help each other along and find something else to do in the good weather, maybe start eating lots of tiptops.:D:D

I`m here if you need me

Don't talk to me about eating!!!! I got my summer clothes out from last year and they are all really tight!! I have been trying to cut down on eating and drinking but the clothes just keep getting tighter and tighter..... for me that is one of the reasons why i've gone back to smoking in my other quits and am determined that this wont happen this time... 9 weeks yesterday have not smoked, my quit meter seems to have gone walkabout and can't remember how I get it back!!!!

I started my quit cold turkey for two weeks, had a puff then decided to get some NRT, chewing gum and inhalour for when I feel the urge, didn't get on with the patches before so didn't go down that route!

I have been using my inhalour more in the last week then ever before, wonder why that is?

Have a good day today, must go now and do some work, I work for myself so have to be disciplined!

Be on later x

Awww Hope you feel better soon Barb :)

Hi there Della. Nice to see you to see you nice haha Good to see you're still going strong. Very well done on not puffing on the awful things. I do hear you re the nice weather and bbqs and stuff, I myself find my thoughts wandering off of late, thinking about how nice it would be to chill out with a beer in the nice weather with friends and family with a fag dangling from one hand. But really, we all know its just an excuse to smoke. We don't need to smoke to have a good time. Hell, I enjoy things alot more now, now that I am free of the awful weed, I feel things more but I have to admit though that I do have a small longing for one  Not full on, but sometimes I experience the occasional 'oh what the hell, I feel like a fag' dayum! Maybe its 'cos I haven't read my AC book for a bit. Trying to wean myself off them! lol

Anyway, soz for going on!

I'm gonna start up a GET BACK TO THE MONTH 3 ROOM campaign for barb :D:D

Hi Maddy, still on internet and not working like I should be!!!

CONGRATULATIONS on your Engagement!!

Whilst reading your post i was nodding my head like that car insurance dog!!!!

That is exactly how I feel!!!

Its not a crave just a thought that soon passes, Sat night i went out with girlies 12 of them 10 smoked, didn't have those thoughts then whilst sat outside the pub but as soon as I got home, those thoughts came and slapped me in the face!!! how weird is that!!

Anyway, keep me posted, off to catch up with some work.... x

Cool wicked! So thats me and you so far then! I'm sure Alan Ransome will join in too heheh

I don't know. I just think its a shame for Barb to come back to day one when she only messed up for a couple of days. What are two measly days compared to the rest of her smoke free life? They're nothing. Nadda. Over the next week or so I'm sure barb would feel justified again to be in the Month 3 room because I do see why Barb might feel having to come back to the day one room. Its because she feels she has failed her quit but she hasn't. We are all positive beings on this forum are we not? Sorry if I'm being bossy :o I'm just lookin' out for ya :p I really don't think you should throw the last 9 weeks away. I really don't. You are fully justified to be in the Month 3 room.

So get ya arse back where it belongs Barb! lol

Thanks so much Maddy and Della

You are both such a great support, i really appreciate this.

If Alan doesn`t mind i will join him back in month 3.

I just have to put the last couple of days behind me.

Again, thank you very much for your kind words, you really don`t know what it means to me.:)

I just think its a shame for Barb to come back to day one when she only messed up for a couple of days.

It's all down to the individual really.

I have known people on here have put themselves back to day one for having a couple of drags at a party after months fag free.

Others will see the odd fag (or packet of fags ) as nothing more than a little slip up to be overlooked.

The only thing I would say is if you repeatedly have little slip ups - then you haven't really quit.....

I've just read that back and realized it sounds very negative - but it IS what I believe to be the truth - so I've posted it anyway.....:(

(Sorry)

Oh, Barb, I've just read this thread! :(

I'm so sorry you caved honey, but just get right back up, dust yourself down and start all over again ok? I just know this will be third time lucky for you! :)

You say the patches are making you sick - have you considered Champix? They really proved to be the "wonder drug" for me! :D

Oh, and read loads, Alan Carr, Smokeworm, whatever lights your fire, Barb. I think I had read every website there is on this subject, and it has honestly helped me :)

Stay strong! Stay focused! Stay with us!

Jude and I also used Champix - with great success (so far)

We quit 3 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days, (113 days) ago thanks to Champix - without any slip ups.

The only side effect for me was intense vivid dreams - but that wasn't unpleasant at all.

I would (and have) recommend it to anyone with no hesitation.:)

nsd_user663_2892 profile image
nsd_user663_2892

Barb, Champix was brilliant for me.

I took it for about 10 days as advised, then stopped smoking (the last two days, smoking was making me feel really sick!). I was on 2 a day for a few weeks, then cut it down to one a day. I didn't really have an side effects (peeved cos I never really got many of those weird dreams!)

I was dreading coming off them, as I had stopped before on Zyban but started smoking again as soon as the course was done! However, we went away to our caravan for a week and I just kept forgetting to take them , so stopped - easy!!

But honestly, reading about the "Addiction" thing is what has really made the difference for me this time around :) I believe educating ourselves about why we smoked, is the key (or at least one of the keys) to stopping forever!

No problem Barb :)

As others have said, its down to the individual. I have to say though that if it was me that had gone over two months and slipped up for a couple of days, I don't think I could quite kiss bye bye to the last couple of months and start over! When I messed up the only reason I went back to day one was because I hadn't gone that long smoke free and I had smoked for nearly two weeks! But if I was in your shoes I'd be back in the month 3 room!

So, do what you feel is best for you barb. I do think you should go back to the month 3 room though. Did I ever say that before? haha

Good luck! :D

Barb

If I were in your shoes - (doubt they'd fit - I'm an elly remember) I would NOT repeat NOT go back to day one.

Some of us are not quite as bright as you Mr Chopper and consequently we cannot do our sums quite so efficiently, but I would suspect that most of us would have been more compassionate with our replies.

Think lines could resolve your attitude problem.

Repeat after me five hundred times.

I must learn to be more compassionate and think before I write.

Hi Barb, they recommend that you dont smoke when taking Campix.

Hi Skygod/Barb. From my experience with Champix they actually DO suggest smoking when starting the course. You are advised to pick a quit date between 8-14 days after you start the course.

The difference here of course is that Barb is already quit - so I would ask the advice of whoever will be prescribing the Champix for you.
