Jesus It Hurts

Hi all,

Im at work and the cravings are starting. Day 3 is one of the hardest. Im trying hard not to eat all of my lunch before 10 am but ive already had two sandwiches and a huge pile of grissini dipped in nutella- you should try it delicious better than chop dip.

Anyway gonna go to the gym at lunch and enjoy the fact that my lungs are healing a little.

Anyone want to start up a group...

Don't give into in! You have got to day 3, and that's fantastic. At work I have felt that water usually gets me through. Buy a big bottle and every time you get a crave, have some water (the bottle with the sucky cap on works best with me!) Also, if you are near a desk or internet, and are able to from work, quit run a fantastic email service which I have found to be really useful. They always reply to you and will provide some moral support and advice (which is usually what I need - as smokers wont give you it!) Stay strong and keep going, day 3 is always a bitch, so just slap her right back down again! :) x

Hi Riv

You know you don't really want a smoke. Its just that nasty evil monster making you think you do! There is a difference.

Please try and get through these next few days. You CAN do it if you really do want to stop such a disgusting habit. I can't believe I let myself be victim to such a controlling habit all those years but I have finally kicked it and so too will you.

Try not to fight it so bad. When a crave comes along, reason with yourself why it is there. Ride it out. It will pass soon enough. I know that you probably think about cigs an awful lot too so that only complicates things more and makes it feel harder than it really is.

Try to occupy your mind with other things tho. I know its easier said than done when every pore of you is screaming out for a cigarette, but you can't let the evil monster win. You don't want to be controlled by a dictating drug do you? Be your own person and stand up to it!!

Day three is when the evil monster really rears his head - just keep telling him to do one!

You are in control and just keep praising yourself and remind yourself how fantastic you are doing - and you are you are a star!!! :D

All the best for the days and years ahead!!!!

Just out of curiosity.....

Can you tell me what exactly hurts? Are you sure it's something to do with stopping smoking and not something else? Any physical pain and you should see a doctor or something. Nicotine withdrawal should not be painful

Thanks :D

It just reminded me of an urban legend type myth - you know someone gets some terrible affliction the same day they quit smoking....... you assume it's a so-called symptom (and its actually the othe thing) but those don't actually exist........... ALL IN THE MIND :). Whyquit.com has an article on it somewhere. If you are still uncomfortable after three days to go and see the doc.

Thank God my mind finally caught up with the rest of me, i've hardly thought of smoking all day and when I did it was 'thank God...'

I Love Allen carr!!

I'm lucky I just had an overwhelming urge to smoke (for 3 days) and that soon went ;)

Yeah I know what you mean - because smoking is a sub-conscious act/crave, you assume the second you realise you are thinking about it that you WANT one. When you don't. Like the book said

Nicotine is a poison. Your body does not crave poison. Your subconscious only wants it because you believe you get something out of it.

It's a mental thing *teehee*

Last few quits of mine were sheer unpolluted hell, I was doomed to fail because I was missing the cancer sticks so much. Eventually I smoked *quelle surprise*

This time i'm glad to be rid of the friggin things, i wouldn't let anyone control me, why the cigarette? Only time I miss it now is..... actually I don't.... I thought about it this morning when I woke but that's it. I did it 365 times a year for 12 years, so I just thought about it and then moved on.

Why am I waffling?

I'm going for bath and bed.

Good night everyone! ;)

day 3 from hell

Hey guys,

My day 3 was yesterday and it is awful!! I felt great this morning.....like i'd climbed a mountain. It just too easy to give in so you should be proud when you don't. I am having so much fun just thinking about what i'm doing and how great we all are!! BUT.... I can't help but worry constantly about my weight. Is it just a myth? im not eating anymore than what i would normally.
