Wow team - haven't you grown ;)

I hope you all had a great weekend.

Well I passed the month and got over the bad day. I saw the sadistic smoking cessation adviser yesterday (the one who always makes me hold by breath for far longer than necessary and has never smoked). I thought I would see the other one, the clued up one who also deals with drug addicts and really seems to understand the quitting process, but no - it was her...

She first spent 15 minutes patronising me about the dangers of Champix- seriously, I thought I was dreaming. When I said I had a bad day the day before she told me "that really could not be possible as Champix took away all withdrawal symptoms" and that it must be in my mind (yeah...I know...) and so on it went. I decided to bite my tongue and rebelled instead by blowing too early, too late or ignoring the beep of the CO2 reader - 4 times. I think she wanted to strangle me. Very childish but very satisfying. I quite enjoy the clinic and I need to go to get repeat prespriptions - but she is really really useless (or maybe I just don't like her) :)?

Hi team (and welcome jojo - please don't be lonely!)

Thanks all for your good wishes - i.e. getting past the month. It has been a mixed experience - the roller coster ride of getting through the junkie in me has taught me a few things about myself.

Example: do you any of you feel like the fog has lifted and revealed an angrier and impatient "you"? I hid so much behind the smoke that I am still unable to deal with some situations - especially getting angry. Oh the rages!!! I now have to walk away and lock myself in the bathroom when I get angry at home! When I am in the office I have to twist paperclips until they break. How do the non smokers deal with anger? Just curious as I cannot continue staring at the bathroom tiles counting them until I feel human again or carry on murdering paperclips (colleagues are fearful and have started leaving paperclip gift-like bundles on my desk!)

hi Cat, im not as bad as you but im so impatient! im more inclined now to say things like "get a life" or "who gives a toss" or swearing a lot more, when before i just went for a cig........none of its good when i say it to my bosses :o lucky for me, ive worked with them for years and they know im quitting.

funny you mention bathroom tiles........im grouting at the mo!!

im keeping busy today, craving quite a bit :(

nsd_user663_2722 profile image
nsd_user663_2722

Hi Jude!

So sorry you are craving - those horrible thoughts - arghh - but grouting should be the perfect anti-crave job! So try to concentrate on getting that perfect finish! I am waiting for my lunch break to go walking . I decided to explore the city (I still get lost very easily) so will be going with my A-Z around learning my way around. Before you know it I'll be able to pass the Knowledge ;)

I am also impatient. Can't stand queues anymore (have left my shopping trolley and left the shop last week!) People must think I am crazed (which I guess I am!)

Hi Team 10!

I dreamt I was exploring a pyramid and I spoke to semi dead mummies last night - very claustrophobic. I also had an intense crave in the dream - weird to wake up and find it was a "dream crave"!

37th day for me today. I must stop eating tic tacs.

Hi Lizzyrob - just seen your post. Just had my patches reduced to 15 mg so feel like I'm starting fresh. Seem to be having more craves at the minute but am fighting them. Determined they wont beat me though:p. I got some lollies the other day - been years since I had one of these.:o

Hi Team 10

38 days for me today! Had a bad thought yesterday (anger related) but it passed.

I hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend (have a great time away cword) - I am off in a few weeks, going skiing - I actually cannot wait. It will be so good not to smoke (will not have to get cold hands as having to remove gloves to light up, will not pollute the piste with fag ends, will be able to go much faster and scare myself!)

Have a great weekend.

hi hun, we are doing great , our team :D

ive never been skiing, maybe try it one day

nsd_user663_2783 profile image
nsd_user663_2783

Morning everyone - hope you have a goodun Cword, I'll be going to Tenerife when you come back and sounds like Catmagpie will be going when I come back so hope you have a goodun as well.

This will be another test for me as obviously when I've been before it has been as a smoker. There are a few that don't smoke and I know one has only given up for about a year so will probably hang around them a lot. Other than that has anyone got advice on how to cope as the temptation is really going to be strong with cheap cigs on offer.

I really, really don't want to go back to Day 1 - so I suppose that's one incentive.
