Well after trying to give up using patches, gum, lozenges and Zyban (which i had an allergic reaction too on Christmas day ) i decided to go Cold Turkey.
First week was really not a problem, insommia and tiredness were the main side effects. I have been out drinking this weekend, hung out with smokers and have not had one real craving for a cigarette.
This morning though, the 8th day, it seems my cravings have suddenly appeared!! Has anyone else found the second week to be more difficult? I am coping ok, but suprised about how i feel today as I thought I was through the worst of it!

I must admit that l felt shocked by it, l was just not expecting it. I am on day 21 now, and some days l still get taken by surprise by a sudden realisation that "no, l can't have a cigarette with this cup of coffee , BEACUSE I DON'T SMOKE ANYMORE". You see, sometimes l just forget that l have quit. :)

Anyway, i am going to occupy myself going to the gym and learning to play the guitar so hopefully that should get me through this week. I am also finding i have to concentrate a lot more when driving. It amazing how much your mind can wander.
Another thing i did notice over the weekend when I was out was how much less paranoid I was about my breath and smelling of smoke in general! The difference in confidence was amazing!
ah babe don't get me started!!!! week 2 is definately the hardest! i was fine with week 1 i didn't even need one really. then this weekend my comp started playing up + i got a bad craving which has lasted for 3 days now.
but don't lose hope, get through this week and im sure it will start to get easier!!!
i'm on day 13 now of stopping smoking + hoping it will get easier but it has been hard honey so don't feel you're in it alone. just keep at it and keep posting on here for messages of support and you will be fine.
Well Day 9, same as yesterday really, finding it alot harder to concentrate on work. Its not like I want to smoke really, its just that something is really not quite right and its quite off putting! Drinking loads of water and going to go for a walk at lunch. Hopefully will help.
Congrats to you all on this forum. Goiong to be the best thing we all do!
I suppose its just a massive roller coaster of a ride. Its very similar to splitting up in a relationship! Up and down, some days you are feeling terrible, some you feel positive and then gradually day by day that emotional attachment is broken down and you can start living.
I went through a massive split around this time last year and I am not sure which one is worse :):)
