Hi my name is kimberley im 38yrs old and the doctor has told me i need to stop smoking.

I have tried to stop b4 but didn't do a good job of staying off them after 10 months. the doctor has told me i need to quite for the sake of my health, I have wolf Parkinson's white, which is a heart condition, and resonantly suffering from a hiatus hernia.

I would like to keep in touch with others who are on Champix to find out how others are doing, I have taken the patches in the past but it didn't keep me off the cigs for long.

I really do what to change my life style to a more healthier one, i bit bothered about the eating more bit when you stop smoking, as i still haven't lost the weight from the last time i stopped.

In time

Hello, Dont want to loose weight, just the shortness of breath... I like running also but just have not been motivated until I ran with my son again. I just hope I can be as strong as I hope. I have tried to quit before but I guess I always tried because others asked me to. This time I am hoping I will for good because I am choosing to. I do tend to be a bit of a right now kind of gal. Your right about time enough for the other stuff. Just have to remind myself. OFTEN!

Hi Kimberley. You can always loose weight later. In fact I found that for the last few years I've been putting on weight while smoking. Getting older I suppose, but also I've had no interest of keeping fit while still smoking. It just made no sense to me to go the gym or get back to running (a passion of mine) while at the same time killing myself. Likewise with my diet "I'm killing myself anyway so why bother being careful".

Now that I've stopped I'm back taking a little exercise again and really enjoying it. I suppose what I'm saying is that I got to the stage where smoking wasn't helping to regulate my weight...I was putting it on and couldn't do anything about it. Once you get a handle of not smoking Kimberley there really will be time enough to address the other stuff. Just be a little be patient and don't demand too much of yourself.

Good attitude Kimberly x x x x

It is confusing a Kimberley and a Kimberly! lol

Running is a great way to loose that excess irritation from not smoking!

If you keep something like that up regularly it will help loads and will help you get fitter and stronger too.

keep it up!

Thanks All

Im not ill but will be if I do not quit! I have been having shortness of breath and heart flutters so figured I should quit before it turns into something worse. My husband passed away last year at 45 from cancer and the smoking has really been weighing on my mind. I have tried to quit by myself many times but saw this sight and being a bit nervous about the withdrawls, figured maybe a support group would help.

I am sure you will find the support here very useful.

I am pretty certain that it has been a very vital part of my quit.

Support is so important and here it flows freely x x
