hi ya

I would be interested to know if anyone who has or is taking champix at the moment has had any problems with their blood pressure. I went for an eye test today and not understanding the technical jargon, the blood vessels in my eyes there is something up with them they are not how they should be,i was told this could be due to high blood pressure.

I had my blood pressure taken about eight weeks ago a few weeks before i started on the champix and it was fine and always has been. I'm not really stressed about anything so im wondering could it be the champix (yet another side effect!) :(

I am hoping to get an appointment for my doctors tomorrow as i was given a letter from the opticians, which i did open and read but couldnt understand her handwriting! I'm sure the medical profession do it on purpose so we dont understand:rolleyes:

Would be interested if anyone has suffered with their blood pressure since going on champix, keep you posted

hi steve

Had my blood pressure checked today and it is fine so now have been referred to the hospital,so by xmas i should have seen someone regarding my dodgey eye:(

I was secretly hoping the doc would say to me yes your blood pressure is up and i would have to come off the champix, then i would have a legitimate excuse to have a ciggie!! I walked past a couple of office workers today having their nicotine break and i breathed in the smoke, silly but i miss my ciggies,i know they are very bad, cost money, make you smell but i do miss them, but why??????????

I agree, the smell is unpleasant and very very noticeable. In fact the cravings I have are all phsycological (sp?) rather than physical, thanks to the champix. Kayla, maybe you should have a word with your gp/smoking clinic, see what they think?

I'm with Kayla on this one.. love the smell, will stand near people smoking but.. wouldn't want to actually do it!

Don't think it's anything to worry about;)

thanks alot for agreeing with me,i dont care what people say but after about 25 years of heavyish smoking you cannot suddenly forget about ciggies, they helped me through many bad times and yes i do miss ciggies at certain times of the day.

When i walk past or am near to someone smoking the smell is enough to make me not want one then sometimes i think i wouldnt mind one,im sure if other people were honest then they would say the same.

As for champix this has worked the best for me i havent smoked for 6 weeks (on sunday) thanks steve for your honest answer:)

I resent the implication that I am not being honest with myslef, let alone anyone on here. As a smoker have you ever put a 'nip' in your pocket/packet, then hours later noticed how horrid it smells? I didnt particularly like the smell of smoke when I smoked. Getting up on a morning, the living room smells. Have a fag then you are desenstised to the 'aroma'. Doesnt mean its sudddenly pleasant though, its like garlic. If you eat garlic you dont smell it on others, but if you havent had it then it stinks. Just my opinion. But it IS my opinion, and its a TRUE and VALID opinion :p

Hi everyone,

It's 4 weeks today since I last smoked, it seems to be getting harder!

I know I don't want to smoke but I do seem to be missing it. I hate to admit but I also quite like the smell of a freshly lit ciggy.

I'v been taking Champix for 5 weeks now and feel sick, moody and fed up.

I keep having little chats with myself how I have longed to be a nonsmoker and now I am one why aren't I happy and rejoicing about it?

Any words of encouragement and your valuable experience would be gr8!

Kayla, I don't think anyone can say "This shouldn't be happening to you". This forum is full of evidence that we're all different and we all react in different ways to things. Each of us is living a personal experience so what you are going through is yours and your reactions and just that: your reactions.

Don't listen to folks who tell you what you should or shouldn't be feeling - they're on their own trip and need to be ignored!

if you don't feel well, see the doc.

And just to summarise so i get this clear in my head: you are passing people who are smoking and enjoying the smell, ok.. and then you're walking on and going about your business.. you're not stopping to join them! Right?:D

Keep strong:)
