  • Hi Sara,

I was never that terrible for getting up in the morning, but I can definitely feel a difference that way. I'm waking up slightly before I need to and feeling rested and ready to get up. Yeps.

No coughing here, but I really do think that varies so much depending on the person and on circumstances (as you say, it may just be a cold!). :)

Now that I think about it... I'm so looking forward to not ****ysing every single symptom/reaction/feeling in terms of quitting and going back to being a person with other things to talk about . I suppose that's the good thing about this forum, you don't bore anyone cause everyone's feeling exactly the same way or at least understands...:D

Hope you have a good day, ;)

  • hi Sara

no coughing for me either - think thats just ur cold, unfortunately not wakingup either lol but am having trouble going to sleep so will blame that!

    7 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I feel much better in the mornings too, i used to wake up and feel like i had only been asleep for a couple of hours. I definately feel more refreshed now :)

I think ill put the coughing down to the cold as well :)

  • Oh I have been coughing terrible too, nasty stuff too :o it is common, it's the lungs clearing out the nasty stuff that continul smoking wouldn't allow before.

My chest has been very tight and lungs aching for the last 3 days! It actualy all feels marginaly better today!!

Week 2 will be such a relief after the pain of week 1!

  • It is well documented that coughing is normal as your lungs try to get rid of all the years of abuse. I spent the last few days tight chested and feeling like I had actually increased my smoking level. this was just my body re-adjusting itself. Sometimes referred to as "quitter's flu" apparently.

I woke up really early this morning tossing and turning. Got up an hour or so earlier than normal.

Apparently, this is common too since as a non-smoker, you need less sleep.

Have a look at whyquit.com - there is lots of useful information relating to symptoms.

Keep up the good work everyone ;)

  • yeah my cough has been gradually getting better each day and my lungs dont hurt anymore

i actually like the cough - it helps me feel that i am getting rid of the rubbish years of smoking has deposited in my lungs.

  • I do have a bit of a cough but havent brought up any gunk as yet.

  • I've had a real dry throat and tickly cough but it seems to be getting better as the days go on. I'm on the Nicorette Inhalators which I think hasn't helped but am finding I am using it less now so the coughing and dryness is getting less.

  • In a gross way I agree Paul lol :D Seeing these chunks of brown matter is very rewarding :o:D
