Was so pleased to find this website, have been reading through many of the posts and think you are all fab and doing so well!
My story: Smoked since I was 14 (now 39), 20 a day smoker, have given up twice (sort of) through 2 pregnancies. Have tried every aid going, hypnotherapy, zyban, cold turkey, patches, gum - you name it I've tried it. Am now on day 7 of Champix, have cut down considerably although am undecided when my quit day will be. Feeling excited yet apprehensive.
Any of your valuable experience will be appreciated.
Thanks

Congrats on The Decision! I didn't quit with Champix but I have read great things about it and many here are using it/have used it, just wait til they see the thread and you'll get a lot of tips and help ;)
Hi there! Congrats on your decision to quit! I didn't use Champix but I know many people that have and that are using it. I think you are suppose to pick a quit date in between 8-14 days of taking it. My opinion would be to pick a date and just try your damnest from then on out not to smoke
Hold your head high because once you take the plunge into the no smoking world you WILL stick with it this time. Good Luck and welcome to the forum!!

hi
reading through your post was like reading my own,i started smoking the same age as you,am one year younger have smoked through 3 pregnancies and have tried accupuncture, hypnotherapy twice, zyban, patches and i am now on champix best of them yet so far!!!
when i started on champix i couldnt decide when i was going to quit as i felt the tablets werent doing anything for me and i was still smoking after 9 or 10 days after taking tablets,i orginally was going to quit on a Monday as i thought start of the week,so Sunday came and that day i went and bought 20 ciggies, that evening i still had ten left which is a record for me as i was on 20+ a day, that evening before i went to bed i put my ciggies in a cupboard, threw my lighter and ashtrays in the bin and went to bed. Monday morning came and normally i would light up first thing while making my tea,but i didnt.
I kept thinking to myself lets see how long i can go without one, then it got to lunchtime and i thought two of my children would be home from school in a few hours and i would like to say to them " i havent smoked today" (as they always nag me when i smoke) so that was my first day of not smoking and i was craving either,or eating alot as i did with zyban.
I havent smoked for 2 weeks and one day and being around smokers makes me feel sick, but on the positive side i have saved so much money so far!
i hope you can decide on a quit date the sooner the better
Thank you so much for your positive feedback. It's so good to hear how well you are all doing and your experiences.
It's day 9 today and I've had 2 and half ciggies and it's 3pm, I even struggled to smoke them. I really haven't even wanted to smoke. I'm going out Friday with friends and didn't want to stop smoking before then as was worried I may have a sneaky one but to be honest the thought of continuing to smoke for the next 3 days makes me feel ill. Didn't think I'd ever say that! WOW!
I've got till day 14 (Sunday) to make my quit day. Will be back soon!!!!
Once again thank you for your encouragement, it certainly makes a difference when you are not doing it alone!
Just had my last ciggie, it actually made me feel like I wanted to be sick (good ole champix). Have crushed ciggies, lighters in cupboard, ashtray in bin. Goodbye to 25 years of smoking....I've had enough!
Will post tomorrow as my 1st official day as a non smoker!!! Yipee!!!!
