I am not really an expert on nrt (am taking champix) but many onhere are using patches or gum so I'm sre someone will come by and advise you. How long have you smoked for? Well done on deciding to quit - you won't regret it!
There are many forms of NRT, Inhalators, patches, gum, lozenges etc and other methods of quitting altogether too, hypnotism, champix, self help literature etc etc!!
I would suggest meeting with your doctor and finding out if you have a cessation service on offer, here you will discuss 1 to 1 what methods may be best suited to you and you can get your desired method on prescription.
The first step is thinking about quitting, I do hope you follow the quit through and keep us posted!
anyone got any other suggestions or has nicorette worked for anyone else?
I am using Nicorette-micro tabs and have been quit 23 days so far.Everyone is different though so i would take the above advice and either see your Doctor or go to a smoking cessation clinic.
My smoking cessation clinic has certainly helped along with this forum also of course ;);)

Agreed, some patches give me nightmares, but my niquitin clear dont. However they dont stick on as well as some of the others, but I get less side effects
I suppose everyone has different choices on what to use if anything when trying to stop from nrt products , hypnotherapy, zyban champix i tried patches once and ripped it off after 3 days and had a cig , then tried cold turkey and lasted 2 weeks, now on champix and into my seventh week smoke free so everbody is different, ive noticed people on here have stopped using all the products , well not all at once obviously lol, i mean everyones trying different ways some have suceeded with nicorette some have suceeded on other ways. anyway im babbing now but hopefuly ya get what i mean.
This is a forum for people who are quitting smoking to get support from other quitters. Not for companies and clinics to advertise their 'methods' or 'cures' for stopping smoking.
You have wasted your time posting all that stuff.
If people are looking for this sort of thing, they will use a search engine to find you. I'm sure they'll find you.
Please don't use our forum to promote your company.
Please kindly go away in the nicest possible way.
I see what you are saying guys but as I read the post.I am not all too sure that by posting that link the OP is deliberatly trying to advertise for nicorette, it is a big site and is capable of decent advertising.
It may well be the OP has actualy come here for support and advice.
I just thought that the possibility of slamming someone when they need help is worse than slamming a spammer who couldn't give a s*** what I say anyway!
hi everyone, thankyou very much for all your help and advice. I have spoken to my doctor and started using champix - I tried nicorette for a while and will let everyone know how I get on...
On another matter what is everyone talking about with link????
giving up smoking can make you constipated. there are loads of nicotine receptors in the bowel apparantly and when you stop giving them what you want they turn nasty on you.
but 2 stone is alot to put on in what a month?
personally i am not a fan of NRT of any sort - i think i agree with the Allan Carr point of view that its the physical addiction to nicotine we need to get out of our systems as well as the psychological addiction to all things connected with smoking.
I am on day 8 of cold turkey by the way and am doing ok.
hope you get this sorted - whatever happens dont go back to smoking!
I'm personally of the opinion that WHATEVER method you use to quit is the right one. Try 'em all and then if none has worked start again and try em all again if necessary. Try em in combination if you need to. Just find the best for you.
For me this forum and champix did the trick.
That was after trying patches, gum, inhalator, tabs, cold turkey, herbal cigs and 2 Alan Carr clinic sessions. Just dont give up trying.
ooooooooooooooooo that might be the case but we are not asking you to be a fan of other peoples quit methods that THEY have chosen, just a bit of support like what you have been given by us would be good, we did not discriminate against your method, or judge or say we are not fans on the way you chose to quit
behave will ya
thats why i said personally - i am not trying to suggest anyone does anything - alot of people think cold turkey is a bit mad but hey i dont really care - i have tried nrt in the past and it didnt work for me so this time i am trying cold turkey.
and since when am i not giving support? - what a load of shit:mad:i wouldnt bother posting anything if its not to support - i have received fantastic encouragement on here and hope i can at least do the same.
did you not bother to read the rest of my post? I wished dimslaev all the best and hoped they got it sorted. It really is not very bright to try pick an argument with me cos i may be a bit short tempered - i have JUST GIVEN UP SMOKING you donut
I did read the rest of your post and it came across badly, you was also talking to someone who has just quit smoking thats why maybe you could have worded it a bit different
If you feel like giving me a good lashing to make your self feel better now i have upset you then bring it on I can take it
hey hey hey I could be your quit smoking therapist everyone
yeah i am calling you a donut - its my favourite ever word!
I am really sorry if i came across badly or worded my post a bit clumsy - i agree with the central theme that whatever method the individual tries is the right one for them and the most important thing we make sure on this forum is that we support each other no matter what.
Thanks for the offer Boudee where do you live? I will be round in 30 mins. I have a helicopter.
