hiya everyone

i see my gp today for a check on how things are going, all seems good. ive been put on 10 mg nicorette patches now, the 15mg were making me a little sleepy and yesterday when i had no patch at all i did feel so much more energetic. feeling ok except the horrid wind problem (told dr but she basically said it is something that can happen when giving up smoking and i need to retrain my stomach. fine but how? i am getting so upset about it now, there are times when its constant and i cant go out because its just too embarresing. i was constipated but got rid of that problem yesterday the awful wind is still there:mad:

i am meant to be going to friends house for a meal tomorrow (non smoking ones so i was looking forward to it) but i just dont think im gonna be able to go. this is driving me insane ...help:(

Hi destiny,

Sorry to hear about the old windypops. If I were you I'd get straight down the nearest herbalist and get a natural remedy. Doc's aren't going to be too interested in prescribing anything from their hard strapped budgets if it's considered just to be a short term minor ailment.

Charcoal biscuits are supposed to do the trick but, Mein Gott, I tried them once and it really is like eating barbecue charcoal shaped like rich tea biscuits - not for the faint hearted. I think there's lots of other herbal options though.

Just out of interest are you using NRT or rgeular gum? Excess wind can, amongst other reasons, be caused by swallowing excessive amounts of saliva and chewing gum a lot leads to swallowing a lot.....

Good luck and try not to get too deflated (sorry:rolleyes: )

Hi Destiny if your wind is that bad you could try asking your chemist for an anti-flatulant that contains dimethicone or simethicone- these cause gas bubbles to break down into larger bubbles which are then easier to expel and resolve the wind problem quite quickly.

Or like dicky said you can get some good remedies from your local health shops, there are things available so you dont have to suffer in silence hun, especially if its stopping you going out. :o

Good luck I hope you get sorted.

Somehow I don't think she's suffering in silence! Sorry Destiny:o

Seriously, could you not excuse yourself to have a look round the garden or something and then do a massive hufty down the end of the garden?

Windy in Bath

:o HI

I dont think its down to the gum, i on the Champix and i have been terribly windy for the past fortnight but i have been lucky apart from one embarrasing incident not just for me but my poor teenage daughter who still hasnt forgiven me. We went to Bath on tuesday for some retail therapy, i had been fairly lucky and not had to much trouble with wind so far any way we went into M&S to look at shirts and all of a sudden i felt a furt brewing as we were going up the escallators just got off them trying to make a dash for the toilets it was getting serious getting to stage where you clench your butt checks to get them to act as a silencer to late FAaaaaaaaaaart it was really loud people looked round my daughters face went red and she walked of in a completely direction to the one her poor old dad was heading at last i made it to the safety of the gents toilet i have never been so embarassed in my life nor had my daughter, after i wiped me bum, i went looking for my daughter and as soon as i saw her we bothed burst out laughing. M&S is not the sort of shop that you furt in.

We made a hasty exit from M&S lucky not to banned forever. and carried on shopping luckily i managed the rest of trip without a similar incident thank god so yes i will be glad when the wind stops and i will be allowed out in public again especially with my daughter
