Hi everyone its day 18 today, and I didnt think i would still be here.
Got a question for anyone that can help if thats ok.
Just wondered about the sleep thing coz I still feel tired even though my sleeping patterns are coming back to normal now and im starting to sleep through again.
I dont even mean just tired, exhausted would be a better word, coz im falling asleep all over the place without realising. I got a bath the other night after hubby went to work and must of fallen asleep around nine o'clock, I only woke because I must of moved and icy cold water rushed over me and nearly sent me through the ceiling! it was nearly 11.30pm when I looked at my watch!
I was a bit late picking up the little one from nursery today because I fell asleep without meaning to on the sofa, so it is starting to intefere with my life.
Didnt have this before I gave up smoking so im thinking it must be connected.
If anyone has any theories or advice that would help would be great, coz I feel like a zombie with a head full of cotton wool.
Cheers, Charlene

I still feel pretty tired too and i am nearly 5 months quit!
I have an underactive thyroid of which one of the symptoms is tiredness, it is often mistakenly diagnosed as depression as the exhaustion is that bad everything is such an effort! and I have fallen asleep in some of the weirdest places! hehehe ~ one obvious symptom is also a large thyroid gland, where a mans adams apple is, called a goiter. It is easily controlled by checking bloods and taking tablets daily.
Although this is also common to quitting I know that my levels would of changed again, they'll need checking again.
It may be worth you having a check up just to rule out possible other underlying causes. The thyroid gland is in your throat and it controls many hormones, smoking can affect it.
Even if it isn't thyroid related the doc can help with other possibilities so I would recommend a check up.
Remember not everything from here on in will be related to quitting!!
Thanks buff will prob take a trip down the docs next week on one of my days off work.
uuurrrggghhh I hate the docs though, always feel like mine is laughing at me when i go, he always looks like he is smirking. Then again it is prob just me coz I have a complex about going. never mind.
Hope it isnt underactive thyroid though coz doesnt make you put on weight??
Ive already put on enough these last 18 days, dont want to put any more on!!
hehehe yes it does commonly make you gain weight but I was diagnosed 15 years ago and I had lost weight with it! Doc says unusual but possible, good to be a freak of nature in that way
I hope it isn't thyroid and it'll probably subside but like you say it is interfering with everyday life now and sleeping in the bath is not good  so really is best you put your mind to rest x x x x

Know the feeling charlene, I have been that way, sometimes cant keep my eyes open, very difficult when sitting at a desk all day. Seem to sleep later in the mornings as well, luckily i dont have little ones to tend to, just myself.
im on day 17 and i too am really sleepy all the time, i had a chat with my dr today about how im doing with the quitting and she lowered me down to 10 mg patches as she said the patches seem to effect alot of people with tiredness, but because i am meant to stay on 15mg for 2 more weeks she suggested i have a back up of nicotene gum. are you on patches ?
i agree with buffy though, its worth a quick 10mins with your dr.
