Holes in filters/tar content

I used to think that cigarettes which had holes in the filter were the low tar variety. I recently put two and two together and realised that to adhere to the UK's legal tar limit of 12mg that so called high tar cigarettes must have holes in the filter. I've checked this idea out on Sovereign (10mg) and B&H (about the same) and found that they have very tiny ventilation holes which are hardly noticeable. I was just wondering if this is the case for all 12mg cigarettes which must be because you used to get cigarettes with 32mg of tar. I need a full flavoured cigarette which takes in no air, otherwise I get very little feeling on my throat. What does anyone know about this and where can I find cigarettes which have tar values above 12 and as high as the values of yesteryear? (name country if applicable)

I am also unhappy about all these ingredient changes to reduce tar content, they are ruining the flavour of cigarettes and have lowered my interest in smoking.

In the US those ventilation holes have been arround for decades. Used to be the sign of a light cigarette but these days found on almost all cigarettes. We have no tar limits though so it's not to meet some legal requirements but just to make a cigarette lighter. As far as where to get stronger cigarettes, I'd order from the US if you can cause we still have ciggys like Camel Filter with 16-18 mg tar.

The last time I heard for a cigarette with 32 mg of tar must be 30 years ago for unfiltered. I do agree that they are not as good tasting as they used to be but 32, well that's a lot of tar.

Surely if the lower tar cigarettes are "ruining the flavour of cigarettes" and lowering your "interest in smoking" then maybe you should consider becoming a fully fledged member of this forum and quit smoking  :o
