Third Day!

Well, Day 3 more than half way over and still so far so good.:)

Was fairly pleased with myself - went shopping straight from work and even bought hubby's pipe tobacco from the ciggie counter and didn't consider buying 'just 10' for me. Then went to my mother's (who's 85 and still smoking) and didn't 'pinch' one of hers.

Still fancied one at certain times of the day, though, those 'habit' ones.

Am I being paranoid here now if I ask if I am in line for delayed withdrawal symptoms?

Only bad bit so far is the patches have caused an allergic reaction. Showed the nurse at work today and she agreed. It seems to happen after the patch comes off. They do itch a bit when they first go on, then don't bother me until I take them off at night. The site where I used the first patch on Wednesday is raised/hot/swollen/bright red/and b***** itchy.

So many new postings. Can't answer them all, but CONGRATS to all of you for sticking at it in spite of everything you're going through.

WE CAN DO IT!!!

Grats maggie!

Well i do applaud you, though why no one is taking these tempting tasks away from you in support is none of my business!

I did manage to leave the building catheter and all 4 hrs post c-section in 2003 to have a smoke!

I for one am experiencing delayed withdrawal symptoms (day 18!), i was ill and stopped smoking really too poorly to consider a smoke, now i am feeling better my mind has space for impure thoughts! but i am not tempted, fortunately i don't have to run around for filling others nicotine habits while i struggle to stifle my own!

Keep up the great effort x

Keep Going Sue

Like Boudee says.....keep going it WILL get easier. We all have the cravings now and again and some stronger than others but youve done the right thing coming on this forum. You'll find that every thought and craving regarding cigarettes has been covered by 1 or more persons on differing stages of quitting. The biggest thing you will find from the majority of people is that the cravings DO subside and you can get through them!

Well done and stay proud......its not easy to quit but believe us all it IS possible and by no means as hard as we are led to beleive!:o

Hey Sue

I thought of nothing but cigs for the most part of first week, you are a stronger lady than I would not be able to resist them being in the house, so big claps to you!

I found after around 6th day I had 'fleeting' thoughts about smoking, still have worse days than others but there is absolutely no turning back now, cannot let such an evil drug get the better of us!

Thinking about hmmmmm .....

>< Fags! lol yeah I do think about them a lot! but I didn't for the first 1 1/2 weeks because I was too ill, so I think I am having a delayed reaction! Thing is I don't think about them at moments of stress, it's when i am at a loose end and i am like hmmm I think I am well enough now to appreciate one ><

Duh! why would i really appreciate something that i pay for to take my life from me and my loved ones? *slap* then i go find something else to do, moment gone.

I know everyone at my local corner shop where i always bought my cigs and they know! so if i did fold, i would have to actively go out of my way to buy some! I havn't come anywhere near feeling like that!

I feel proud but can't deny those flashes, without them it would all be too easy and i wouldn't be so proud :D

Your doing really well Sue x x we're all human x x 1 day at a time, hour by hour

well 7 days without fags. its been the hardest week i have ever had. but 35 quid in the wardrobe. if i can do this anybody can. well done to all the ex smokers out there. :) i find eating oranges, or sucking ice cubes helps. cos you cant smoke with an ice cube in your mouth
