Second, one of the biggest things that has helped me is when a craving hits try and see if its somthing else. I once read about an acronym called "H.A.L.T." H= hunger,A = anxiety, L= lonely T= tired. I think all smokers use smoking as a coping mechanism, skip lunch have a cig and its not as bad. Had a bad day smoke a few cigs etc etc. I Have taken most of my cravings and annalyzed them and a majority of the time. It was somthing else, not always the HALT but many things. Try and see what your body is craving. you might have to reteach your self to know what you are feeling or craving. BOREDOM is a bad one. Try and keep your self busy in positive ways and away from things that cause cravings. Like Coffee, drinking etc etc. The cravings after a meal can be bad but try and find a new habbit like hard candy or a walk.

Third Understand how the addiction works! I have been using the patch for over 4 weeks. The addiction is a 2 part addiction, one is mental the "hand and mouth" and the other the memory or habit after "dinner", "getting out of bed" etc etc. The second is the chemical nicotine. So the patch for me has kept the nicotine going so I could get rid of the hand and mouth habbit. now I am going to be stepping down to lower levels of nicotine.

Fourth You have to remind you self that this is an addiction, so like an alcoholic you can't have one, not a drag not even 1 puff ever again- 0 - zero- nada none ZIP. After a few days you won't want to ruin your progress so use it as a tool. Use tools like this call a friend or go to this forum. Cravings will go away after 5 minutes and it does get easier day after day.

Fifth If you make a decision to quit do it stick too it at all costs. Try not to mess up but if you fall off the wagon get back on. Subtract the day from your quit days and continue on!!!!

Cold turkey works for some, gum for others etc etc. I would reccomend the patch. If you are truly ready you can do it. It is hard very hard but all you have to do is do it. Some may read this and think I am trying to be an expert I am not. I am on day 29 of no smoking, a friend wanted me to share what I have learned so I am. I am here for anyone to talk to and all of the others are and have been very very supportive. So if you are reading this and thinking about quiting/ joining please DO!!! Join and quit ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!! This forum helps and it can help YOU QUIT FOR GOOD

Did you know when you inhale smoke from cigs that over 4000 chemicals enter your body. Really nasty nasty stuff!!!

I spent a bit of time reading about the negative things smoking does, it helps a ton! If a craving comes on !poof! remind yourself of one of the 2 million nasty unhealthy reason to quit smoking.

I believe that every ex-smoker, quit smoking because they try several times before they succeed. Therefore, if you’re looking for method to quit smoking I suggest that you start researching your habit. I’ve been smoker for over 12 years, and I quit for good.

I’m 100% sure that you need to find your own reasons but that’s up to your search for the truth.
