My wife (who has aggressive follicular lymphoma) received an NIH CAR-T infusion (NCT02659943) on March 2, 2016 - she has been in complete remission since the infusion. NCT02659943 is accepting new B-cell lymphoma and CLL patients.

That’s awesome news!

CAR-T is the way forward.

Although as it does some side effects.

It makes you want to hug purple dinosaurs.

Congratulations! This is very good news. Hopefully they will iron out the side effects and this could become standard of care for many blood cancers.

CAR T-cell treatments employ a patient’s own immune T-cells, which are gathered and genetically modified to attack the cancer. Researchers grow the genetically altered cells in the lab to obtain sufficient numbers before they are injected back into the patient.
