Do you have any family history of kidney disease? This sounds a bit like Polycistic Kidney Disease which is heridetary, but I am no expert

Boycie, I agree with MrsPick, it sounds like Polycystic Kidneys which is what I have. I inheritared it from my mother and am running on 19% 24 years after being diagnosed.

Boycie if you want to know more pm me directly

I have polysystic kidney disease, it is slowly progressive and generally heridetary. You best talk to the dietician and start watching the balance of what you eat , cut things like salt out your diet as much as possible , boil things like potatoes, avoid bananas, tomatoes, nuts etc , and that should help prolong the life of your working kidney

yes avoid salt as puts blood pressure but not sure rest of food need be avoided unless your potassium levels are high

Polycystic kidneys are not always hereditary- like mine. There will be a lot of cysts. It can also affect your liver - like mine. Diet advice is good but u should get a proper diagnosis from your doc.

Hi thanks for info, I thought all polycystic was hereditary so that is interesting. I do have fatty liver (non alcoholic) and cysts on my liver, so I will tel dr when I see him. I have recently had dull ache in my kidneys and base of back doc doesn't know whether this is kidney disease so I keep taken pain killers and I will see what the kidney doc says in dec. Thanks again for support it really helps

Recently I have a pain next to heart on the right side in my chest Is this connected to my problem with kidney? so confused....

only issue is whether your function gets worse. creatinine of 109 brilliant. your gfr could stay stuck on 50 for rest of your life. to give your an eg gfr of 10 or less means machine. it could go to ,say, 15 and stay stuck there for yrs.

I wrote a book . had two transplants but back on machine.
