Hi Gary -- I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease, and follow the kidney diet recommended by Da Vita. They also have a free class you can attend. My ckd has not progressed and doctors don't expect it to. Ask as many questions as you can.

Well stated jaykay777. I have similar story and Doctor prescribed diet and exercise has slowed down the progression. I also attended the Davita class and was very helpful. Good luck on our CKD journey. Being proactive for our health is another key. Thanks for sharing.

I'm actually waiting for Lee Hull book to come..I have been reviewing chapters and am very impress by his imformation..I try Divita but was very put off by the person I was speaking to..I think she was upset I was not purchasing a 7 booklet..And told me that I must not be looking for help..And I reply if you need $7.00 that bad I would mail it to you..So my experience with her was shocking..So that's why I decided to go with Lee Haul I like his theory..But thank you, any and all information is always apprciated!

Have not heard of author Lee Haul for CKD booklets. I have read booklets by Mathea Ford on CKD that are helpful also.

HI Gary! I too was diagnosed with stage 3 CKD in September after having a nephrectomy last March. They had expected my kidney function to increase right after surgery but it did not. I have been seeing a nephrologist and a nutritionist since October. I am now on a low protein, low salt diet. My eGFR number went from being stuck at 38 to 44 so far. I believe that diet will help you a lot. I lost about 6 lbs on this diet and struggle to keep weight on but I am willing to do anything to keep my kidney function up as high as possible. I focus as much as possible on fruits and vegetables. Good luck to you!
