Actually, I believe most of us have had this happen. For me, it has gone up and down several times by more than 10 points. What you have to realize is that it will never again be "normal." You have to exercise, follow a kidney-friendly diet, watch your medications and dosage and stay on top of the research and information that is available to you to help.

Congratulations on the uptick and remember, it's important that even with good numbers you must continue to follow the steps you have in place just as if you had dropped 10 points.

Strangely enough I had appointment yesterday&Dr said mine gone up to 53 from 38...it's not been that good in 8 years....usually between 31-38% Im feeling a bit sceptical to be honest&want to wait doe next blood results. It just seems too high a jump after 8 year.

They don't ever recover fully of course but you can have slight improvements my husband about 22 years ago had declining function almost to the point of dialysis untill he was sent to a urologist who found his bladder was not emptying causing back pressure on the kidneys he self catheterizes since then & had improved function to stage 3 for 15 years the last 5 of that he fluctuated as he had 3 blockages in the uretha every time it was cleared he improved a little until he had heart problems which caused a fast decline & on to dialysis

so a lot depends on if they know whats causing it

I have BPH which causes similar problem and likely reason or contributing factor of my CKD. With 2 surgeries several years ago , and diet and meds for BPH it seems to be working. My urologist is monitoring it also.

Great your husband is able to put off dialysis for all those years. Sharing your info gives me confidence that I too can do it.
