I currently have a gfr of 18 which just 11 months ago was between 29 and 32. I have heart disease and diabetes as well. I am 56 years old and am currently taking many tests to get on the donor list for the University of Miami. I am scared I am going to die.
I try to stay positive but it is difficult. I appreciate any ones comments
rob it is not to say it is 19 there is another test called isotop that will show your real kidney gfr its a 4 hour test my gfr whith normal blood tesr show 17 but the other test show 40 so rather go for the more acurate test contact me later again
Hi Rob, my own eGFR is holding between 31-39% at the mo, so am not sp far along the process as you.
I know there are a number of people on here tho who have had successful transplants&living good lives,and even people who are on dialysis who are amazing!
I'm sure they'll chip in with more help than me but I just wanted to encourage you!

I was just put on transplant list in June. My GFR is 10! We're in the same boat. I know dialysis will come, just trying to put it off as long as possible. You can delay it too with diet, exercise and supplements. You are in my prayers. God can do anything!

Not long at all. I had to go 3 different times for tests. Once that was done, it went before s review board and was put on list. I'd say about 2 or 3 months. Of course if you don't have a living donor the wait can be 6 years or more. I'm not on dialysis, so there's a new law that anyone on dialysis will go first. I don't have a living donor. Hi Rob. I have an egfr of 16%. Still trying to work full time but mostly from home now. I am only 51. I don't it is a terrible burden to have this on your mind all of the time but please know you have support in this forum.

Hi Rob, there is a new drug coming out soon that may help you. My doctor keeps me updated on it. It has finally been approved in US but they're trying to figure how it will be covered under insurances. It slow the progression of disease and is really good for PKD which is what I have. Also concentrate on improving your numbers. I made a chart of mine and so I can see what I need to improve on. Also have begun taking Chitosan along with other supplements. Chitosan removes creatinine from your body. If I can help you further, please let me know. You're in my prayers. God can do anything!

It's called Talvaptan. It has been approved FDA recently. Right now it's very expensive but trying to regulate it to make it cheaper and to get it covered by insurance. It has already been approved in other countries. You can google it. In the future it will help keep people off dialysis. He said it wouldn't do that for me as Its too late in the game for me. But it can delay dialysis for me if they get it on the market. And will help tons of people (supposedly) hope this helps!

age 27 GFR rate 66 , diagnosed CKD STAGE 2 by my doctor, am I ruined?
