Hi and Welcome, I thought it best for you to understand more about Chronic Kidney Disease by including this brief explanation of the five stages of CKD. There is a lot of information online for you to research and this info will get you started. The good news is that being normal has nothing to do with CKD. You are normal. We all are. If someone can define normal it would have nothing to do with being ill with a chronic disease. It's life. You can't reverse it but you can slow it down by making changes to your diet and exercise program.

You've made a great start by finding this website and coming online to share. Come back often.

The glomerular filtration rate measures the ability of the kidneys to remove waste from the blood, states WebMD. A urine test is done to determine GFR. A GFR of at least 90 is considered normal and indicates stage one kidney failure if there are other signs of kidney damage.

At stage two, GFR ranges between 60 and 89, which is considered mildly low, advises WebMD. During stages, one and two, doctors aim to control blood pressure and sugar levels and monitor the patient's condition and disease progression.

Stage three kidney failure is reached when GFR measures between 30 and 59, states WebMD. At this point, doctors begin to look for and treat other complications, such as bone disease and anemia. During stage four kidney failure, GFR measures between 15 and 29. Patients must decide what treatment options they want to pursue as they move into the end-stage of the disease.

When GFR drops below 15, the patient is in stage five kidney failure, states WebMD. Patients may start dialysis to filter blood, have a kidney transplant or receive palliative care to manage pain and improve quality of life.

my doctor is asking me to control my bp and its under control too to great extant what does it mean? does creatnine level comes down to normal range by medication? m in stage 2??

in reply to amit_meena

Hypertension is usually controlled by medication with an assist with diet and exercise. Diet (weight) can add stress to your heart and so can some exercise. That's why it's important to speak to your physician before you begin any exercise program beyond walking. Not everyone can or should do cardio, without a consult with their doctor. When you exercise, your muscles create the creatinine and there are other ways to control it. Again, that's why it's important to speak with your physician.

m not doing anything just taking medicine given by doctor and some yoga but my mind is killing me. i want to know exactly what is happening to me? i am freaking out....does creatinine level goes back to normal??

in reply to amit_meena

It can go down but it takes time, exercise (the right kind for you) and a kidney-friendly diet. If you want some places to look I'm sure there are places in India that have lots of information for you and most would be online. Begin reading all that you can on CKD and make a list of questions to take with you at your next doctor's appointment.

Then, once you have those questions answered you can continue with your research on CKD and where to go from that point. This is not an imminent battle that has to be won. It's a long, slow progression and you are in control. Be proactive and do what you learn to make it your choices and slow it down.

thank you for your patience and time and its really good to talk... i will try to do my best and you are really a nice soul to talk to.

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts. You'll find many people on this site will be happy to help. If you aren't successful in getting information locally about CKD I can send you information, websites, but most of that will be sites connected to the U.S.A. If that will help you let me know.
